I am 33 years old and have always had problems with getting an erection. To summarise my symptoms, I would say I have a low libido, it can take me a long time to get an erection, and when I do, it is not hard enough for penetration or I lose it easily.
In the past, doctors had been quick to tell me it was psychological purely based on my age. But, I believe that any psychological impact is a symptom of a physical issue. The reason being is that even when I'm masturbating, I experience the same symptoms. When I do gain an erection by myself, I have to keep stimulating myself to maintain it; not touching for 10-20 seconds can be enough for me to go limp. This is without any pressure prompting performance anxiety, so that's why I've come to the conclusion that I have.
I've booked a telephone appointment with my GP for Tuesday. I want to be referred to a Urologist, but I'm seeing on the NHS website that referrals can take up to 53 weeks! I don't want to have to wait that long to progress things.
I'm curious as to what people think about my assessment, and whether people know what might be going on? Also, is it worth going to a Sexual Health Clinic instead? I've never been to one of those so I don't know if they'll be able to offer the support I need. Last question, is there anything specific I should mention to (or explore with) my GP on Tuesday?
