This brings a smile to my face. I'm happy for you.
My daughter use to stay in her room all the time, and have absolutely as little to do with me as possible. Today she climbs up in my lap everyday and tells me she loves me (she is 18). I know for a fact the reason she changed her feelings toward me is because I was honest with her and sincerely asked for her forgiveness. I had to admit it (even though she already knew what I was doing) and apologize.
Here is what she wrote in my Mother's Day card:
"Let me just say that I am so happy to have my Mom back. Now I have the mother I always wanted and I know that God gave me one of the best. Now that I'm older and you are better, I love the time we spend together and I want to always have this close relationship. I appreciate all that you do and I want you to know how proud I am of you for overcoming all of your obstacles. I Love you so much!
Sorry to be so sappy, but I am just thankful for both of my daughter. Dumbsmartkid, it is possible to have a relationship with your mother and father, but it will take all 3 of you to work at it.
Hope everything goes well for you
I was that little girl. Only Im almost 30 and have a daughter of my own. Some people are just crazy (whatever happened to just plain old crazy?) Needless to say I still don't talk to her. My father on the other hand is a mess & I'm still waiting for that moment with him. Where I can talk to him and not walk on egg shells because like most addicts he's very defensive.
I hope to one day be on the other end of that story. Sometimes, you're tought exactly how NOT. to be by are parents instead of learning how to be because of them.
Thank you for giving me hope for my own family & congratulations on yours!!!!!
Thats so awesome. The miracle of sobriety and heavenly blessings never ceases to amaze.
