Marriage after Quiting Drugs

How many of you married type have found that life with your spouse is different now that you have quit or are quitting using drugs?

While this may be a bit off topic, I am finding that it is an important part of not using again and correcting the damage that I may have caused while using.

For me I am seeing each day that I am paying more attention to my wife, noticing the little things she does for me that when taking vics I glazed over. Her response is one of being more open and responsive to me.

I can't even begin to list the way things are better. there's still stress to focus on, but it's GOOD stress. Not that day in out pointless grind of getting what you needed to stay well.

Yes, I noticed a huge difference when I was taking pills.. I just let things slide so to speak.  I wasnt really interested in much of anything espcially sex.. My husband felt very left out.  He is a very affectionate man and I just gradually stopped being affectionate to him and  he missed that a great deal.  I love this man with my whole heart and it grieves to me to realize I caused him so much pain because of my chosing a pill over him.
Now we are working at bringing back the magic so to speak to our marriage.  I had gotten so numb to things I am having to retrain my brain that I need to be affectionate and loving to him each and everyday...

I would bet your husbands would say there are the luckiest men alive to have the pair of you too.

You know you can always tell a happy contented man, he’s the one in the back of the room smiling and keeping his mouth shut when all the rest of the guys are complaining what  B***HES their wives are.

It really does only take the 3 A’s to keep guys happy, appreciation, admiration and affection

I'm speaking from the other side of the bed too.  While I was on the med., my marriage was still good, but I just wasn't there.  I know he must've been lonely and the sex, well, you know.  Now though, we go on dates a couple times every week, we can't keep our hands off of each other, and he's got his best friend back 100%.  Cathy, we are two happy ladies, 'cause I'll swear in court any day that I have the best husband in the world.  No competition here, I think we're just two lucky chickies.

I can totally relate. We still had a great marriage even while I was on them but I seemed to overlook the little things that woman like to hear or do. Such as just holding her hand or snuggling while watching a movie. I didn't realize how much little things like that meant to her. We have both noticed a huge improvement in our marriage.
And I have to mention the sex! She would always blame herself while I was on the pills. I explained to her many times that they cause a lack of sex drive but it still bothered her. Life is just so much better in so many ways being off of the pills!
