my new year resolution is to live each day like it is my last...enjoy my daughter while she si still young... pat myself on the back form my accomplishments and just be there for family and friends. Oh, and say hi and smile everyday to at least one person.
I used to be able to do that...just one day not have one and all of a sudden I'd be at 30 days without them and then something would happen and I'd start again....once went nearly 6 years without smoking..
but I figger I'm hitting the big 60 in 2010 so it might be a good time to quit...maybe
My Dad was able to do the same thing (with cigs) .. Just one day decide to QUIT.. and WHAM.. he quit... My Dad was a pretty amazing person... I think I had better "call him up in heaven" and ask him for some help.
D day is approaching fast... puff puff....Can't wait to quit... but.. I'm such a control person that I need to have a date and TIME to quit...
Wish me luck....
Love you all
Happy NEW YEAR!
NorcoQueen and Mister Ed
I am considering quitting smoking as it is darn-near about to kill me !!!!! I know it is just a matter of time when I will wish I had quit and did not. I am weak, I love to smoke and I even like the taste !!! I have smoked many decades now. What a fooI I am.!!
My daddy, once he decided to quit tobacco, he quit and didn't ever look back, almost like he dispised it, and that was that !!! What true-grit he had!!!!!
Perhaps thinking the first of the year will be my first day smoke-free. Need prayers.
Ella
i plan to start exercising more.......get some big muscles!! : )
best of luck to you, Queen...if I can stick to 1 of mine I'll be happy.
Jim
I have not made one in years for the very same reason as sara.. For when I dropped the ball it was just another thing to nag at my mind.. lesa
I make a New Years resolution every year and never stick to it so this year i am not making one so that is mine.......sara
Gonna try to give up the cigs.... Yeppers.. I think it's time....I was told by a dear friend that you should try to give up one demon at a time... My first demon was Norco... got 152 days clean on that so... I think I'm ready to conquer the stupid cigs.... Plus,, my biggest modivator is my 16 year old son and my SUPER DUPER Supportive husband of 29 years....(plus... my 5 year old horse... Mister Ed... kinda makes it hard to ride him when you can't breath.. plus he doesn't like the smell... heck.. who does?) I want to be around when my son gets married... has kids and to enjoy life with grandkids and the golden years with my husband....
Thats my New Years resolution... Wish me luck...
And... Happpy New Year to each and everyone of my dear friends out there in MedHelp land... Sure do Love you all! You all make my heart happy!

well, thank you, beatingthis...that's very kind of you. couldn't do it without the support of people here.
Jim
I am going to try to remember to take all my medicines and to quit procrastinating when my wife asks me to do something. The first shouldn't be that hard but the second will require a lot of effort.
I would love to quit smoking, but have never put an effort in yet. My new years resolution is to start eating healthier again, instead of the fast food kick I have been on, blah. I think I am getting old. I am gonna start working out too for the first time in 10 years, lol.
Ha Lizzie! You are such a great grand mother!!
Giving up cigs was hard but it will get eaiser. Becca I never thought of it that way. Hmmmmm maybe I won't stop.
Seems like we all are going to try to take better care of ourselves. Thats a good thing.
Jim You my dear are a rock!!
Terry
can't quit drinking...already did that and didn't even realize it til several months later (not that I drank a lot), gotta quit smoking though...I only smoke around half pack a day and we only smoke in our garage and it's often too cold...if things are stressful as they frequently are around here, my consumption increases accordingly...
get more work done outside in the spring...last year was a total loss after the death of my son...
Jim
loose the 10 pounds i gained alongside my pregnant daughter-in-law. i've heard of the husband gaining with his pregnant wife...but not the mother in law who lives 4 hours away.
it's HER fault and i'm sticking to that excuse ! ! ! ! !
gotta quit smoking!! the perfect opportunity is coming soon too....the 10 day forecast says an arctic air mass will come down and have a prolonged period of SUB ZERO temps! I plan on putting my last few cigs out in yard (far from the house) so even when im weaning down on the last cigs, they'll be few and far in btwn cuz i HATE walking far out in the bitter cold! I dont smoke indoors anyways, never have, so even stepping outside the back door to smoke wont be enjoyable when the windchill is 20 below , lol
Holy smoke Terry your gonna give up honking and yelling at bad drivers? Well shoot that's just about the most enjoyable and stressreliveing thing. Plus it's legal most of it is I think I'd it illegal to flip the bird? What of your smiling when you do it? Lol well I don't know what got into me I am in a mood but on the level my resolution is weight loss I have put on 75 lbs and it has to go I got clean and sober and have had two major surgeries this year plus a AD medication. I have always been active but now I can't climb stairs without having a little hot flash. So in order to enjoy my sobriety I have to put it into gear. Good topic
Becca
To quit the cigs...down to 3 or 4 a day....and lose this weight steroids have put on me...
and thank you, beating this
Jim
yes, I must stop smoking and take better care of my diabetes..while I'm borderline diabetetic, I will need to work on watching what I eat (type 2)
Jim
I think these are all great!!!
Good work on the weight loss Bear!!! Me too. But I workout all the time feels like sometimes.
I quit smoking some 220 days ago and started working out.
Terry
get my act together....work harder at my depression...help my wife more with her health and see my gradchildren more. work on excersizing and continuing to lose weight (have dropped about 20-25 lbs in the last few months...down to 175...got about another 10 to go.
More family trips...go to my grandkids birthday in Atlanta in March...and dang it regardless of what my wife says...Jamaica (www.couples.com/negril )for a week. the most beautiful place on earth.
Jim
Last year was nothing but working on the house so this year it's gonna be about our health.
