on television

I was just watching the dvr and their was an episode of intervention on it about this 36 year old business owner on one of the coast I'd assume cali he raised his brothers supported his mother and started drinking and running business from home computer and was drinking himself to death. He had the intervention went into treatment was kicked out after 30 days and stayed sober two weeks then relapsed and was found dead in his home feb. 08. Scary and it should hit home and I am trying to sink it in as my girls would be fatherless very young. I have checked into a cdu in the capitol of our state and that is my last option if I fail again. I think I'll be alright though this time on my own until I can find some aftercare around my home town........ Just thought I would share the story with you all as I am sure it would hit home for many here..... Mike

I know firsthand what it is like after a few days without hearing from someone you care about, and you know in your heart the worst as happened. Drinking hurts everyone and will cause a terrible score of broken lives. I am glad you now have some foresight to avoid what I couldn't.   good luck

I totally hear you on that...I have been thinking the same thing myself..since mine are prescribed I am better than others. NOT! I am an abuser/ addict myself. What a reality check when I realized that. The other show that got me was Celebrity Rehab w/Dr Drew. I was addicted to it as well as my pills!

We could all take a little lesson from that story, Mike. I expect those stories are more common than we'd like to think, no matter what substance is involved.

Mike, what does cdu stand for?  ( I know, it's probably very obvious but I'm having a moment.)  Anyway, I used to watch intervention and the stories always tore me up.  Some made me so sad and some made me so mad.  I can't watch it now because I don't have TV yet (cable or a dish).  I know that must've been a disturbing episode for you but like you said, use it for an incentive.  I think our children are one of the best incentives for making us want to get clean.
Thank you for sharing and hang in there,
Yoda (Linda)

I can watch those its the o ones I hate to watch when withdrawin.... I dealt with dts from some binges on alcohol I wnet on and I can't tolerate any alcohol at all in my body anymore it gets me sick as soon as I drink and then I have to wake up with the shakes looking for more soI can just stay abstinent from that. Its like alcohol wont allow me to drink that long before my body starts to reject it very fast. Strange huh??
