Valium detox/withdraw

Hi,

I read a post in 2008 about a guy who was in a similar situation to mine.  I am 6ft and in good shape.  I have been taking Valium, 10mg/daily, for almost a decade.  I have stuck with the dose, but sometimes I took up to 15mg when I was anxious or needed to speak in public. I really need to get off of it and still on 10mg a day.  My body has built up a tolerance so the dose now is bare minimum for me.  I went down to 7.5mg recently and I cannot sleep and feel exhausted, confused, apathetic, and a tremendous amount of anxiety. Concentration is also VERY difficult.  Any suggestions from others who have successfully gone through a valium taper?

Thanks,
B

I am a casual user of V, I bought it for the Thomas recipe to get off opiods. The other day at the hair salon I read an article (magazine)on benzos that scared the crap out of me!! I read that if you suddenly stop taking them you can. Have seizures, the article posted testimonies of women falling in floor, convulsions etc.  please please, follow a doctors orders on tapering off  your V.  Don't try to do it yourself. The next thing I see happening is you taking more because your body is used to the 10mg you take a day. Much respect and prayers sent your way.

I've been taking 20mg for years--trying to quit.  I've cut down to 15mg a day for only 2 days now, but I really can't tell the difference.  Good luck.  Let me know how you're doing with this.  We compare notes--lol

Hi there and Welcome-  You need to taper very slowly, a mg at a time. Give yourself plenty of time between each dosage drop so your body can acclimate.

You can't rush a benzo taper so be patient and you'll do fine.  Right now you're uncomfortable because you dropped your dose by 25% and that's too much.  Hang in there and keep posting!
