Pain

How long can you expect pain from detox.  I need the worst case.  I was on oxy and percocets.

What I am trying to figure out is if this pain is from a different source.

Thank you.

Hey Lizzy - you should not be having any pain associated with the detox by now.  I did not have any "pain" except for headache after mine. I would recommend talking to a doctor that you trust and one that you can share your detox experience with.  My gut would tell me that the pain is coming from somewhere else.  You told me before that you cannot take advil, but that the tylenol you took did help.  Have you tried any other OTC pain remidies?  I hope that things start to get better for you soon, the symptoms post detox should be diminishing by now.

Yes, I know I desperately need the exercise.  I think I have recovered from my cold enough to at least do some walking and ride my exercise bike.

I start PT on Monday and have a call in for a cancellation today.

This will be the slowest bike ride ever.  I have nothing left.

Explain the phantom pain.  That really could give me something to hang on too!!!!!

Thanks for the prayers, I truly need them, Amy.

Movnon, I was afraid I might be masking something else.  My problem is that there is little I can take for pain relief and no I don't want to get caught in the maze of narcotics again.

So, I have an apt. with my doc next Tuesday, which will be of little help as this is out of her area.  Well, if she would take the time she could figure it out.  She is smart but this is where her addiction (sports) is interfering with patient care.

I also have an apt with my back surgeon because my back is giving me fits.

I have pt scheduled.

I think maybe my body has had all it can take.

you won't want to hear/read this at this time, but exercise is the best medicine for physical pain. it hard to get it going, but once you do, your body starts making those good chemicals on its own, just like normal people! the things we have done to our bodies trying to feel good, when all along, unless you have some condition to cause otherwise, we had the power in us the entire time. curse me if you want to. i would have. not now. my habit was huge and over 30 years long. it takes a while to distinguish which pain is legit, and which pain is addict phantom pain. just because it's phantom doesn't mean it isn't just as real. if you can hold out long enough, you'll see what i mean. greatest luck to you. let this be your year! peace, sway

It has been a month since I last took my DOC which is an opiate. I got through wd's and started feeling better and then I started feeling more and more physical widespread pain. My doctors can't see me again until Jan.17. They initially thought it was crohns but now they want to do some pressure point test because they are thinking fibromaylgia. I never knew I was masking a chronic disease with my pill use. I have been open with my doctor and she even did a drug screen. To make sure I had no opiates and it wasn't because I had used them and in wd's again. After a month there is no way I should have physical pain like this especially considering my dose when I was using was small 2-4 lorcets a day and for 3 years. I take 1500mg naproxen a day now and it doesn't touch it but I refuse to ever go back on opiates and my doctor knows this. See your doctor, be open an honest. I know it is different for everyone but it seems a little long to have physical pain symptoms. Good luck!

I truly wish I could help you, but I have no "real pain". Mine was purely emotional...
There are MANY people on here who have become addicted to opiates because of pain and they will answer your questions- or at least send you in the right direction.

Most are at work. ):

You can do this without the narcotics. That is what I do know. How? That I don't know.
You are in my prayers...truly.

The problem is I did rapid detox on the 8th of December so have not had a single oxy or percocet since then.

I have back pain.  All my joints hurt.  I can't deal with much more of this and the only thing I'm not allergic to and can take is tylenol which isn't doing a thing.

I just need to figure out if this is normal or not.

I had been on neurontin after I got home but I couldn't see straight as in one pupil was literally bigger than the other and I can't remember what else that did to me.  It did help with the pain.

I'm a mess!

Worst case scenario: Your brain and fear convince you to NOT stop using and you DIE.

Best case scenario: You find someone to help you taper 1-2 a day down for approx. 3-4 days...then 1-2 down again, etc. Give the DOC to someone who will not cave in and will take them with them or hide them well....I suggest the first one, for we are addicts and if we have a moment of doubt, we can find them....
If you can taper, you shouldn't feel that bad at all. Don't use my story as a way if you don't want pain. I am doing it this way for personal reasons.
Quick taper is better than none.

Not as best case scenario: You quit cold turkey and day one is okay aside from the obsessing and lethargy. Day 2 you begin to feel the pain in your legs, you sweat while you are freezing and vice-versa, you have the runs ( a gross yellow, toxic run), your mind tells you over and over you can't do this and you NEED your DOC.
Day 3 and 4, you feel like you have the worst flu ever, but you stay true to your desire to quit, you stay close to us here, and you stay close to God if you so choose....
By day 5 you will be tired and feeling a lot of  a lot, but amino acids, Thomas Recipe and support- mainly aftercare, will help with that.

Best of luck to you and remember: Our minds make it out to be far worse than it is. It is a matter of perspective.
You can do this.
Keep posting and welcome!
