2nd day on Suboxone and want off

I started taking suboxone 4mg on sunday. I took 4mg at 4 p.m. It made me feel no witdrawal but very pukey. 24 hours later I took 2 mg and still the same thing pukey. Today I am going to take 1 mg, hopefully no puking and I want to take NONE tomorrow and be done. It will be the fourth day of no pain meds. Will I have withdrawls from the sub since I was only on it for 3 days at such a low dose. I hate this stuff, yes it helped me with the withdrawls but also made me very pukey. Wish me luck!!!!

I would try to take as little of the sub as possible to stave off withdrawals but you will need about 2 weeks to get through...just take a small piece in the morning and then see how it goes if you start feeling sick take another crumb...you don't need that much sub to stave off the withdrawals and I think you are right to try and get off them as quick as possible..about 2 weeks.

You think it will take that long??? I was not on much before, just relapsed after being clean 20 days, took some tussinex and vicodin about a month and tapered down to 4 5mg vicodin before starting this on Sunday. Are you saying that because I will have w/d's from the suboxone. I saw my doc today and I told him I was going to stop it tomorrow and he didn't mention it was going to hurt me???

You can stop the Sub immediatly, you aren't addicted to it yet. But you will still experiance some withdrawals from the vicodin...maybe. You wren't on much Vics for very long. You will not experiance any withdrawals from the Sub.

Thanks. I am freaking myself out reading all these post. I know my vicodin w/d's will be gone by day five so I was going to take one more dose of sub tonight, 1mg, and then no more. BY THE TIME THE SUB IS OUT OF MY SYSTEM THE VICODIN W/D'S WILL BE OVER. If I stop the sub I should be okay, right???

You may still have some mild residual leftover withdrawals, but nothing you should be freaking out over. You will be a lot better off than getting hooked on the Sub. You can deal with whatever mild symtoms you might have. Don't sweat it. You'll be fine.

I took three bottles of Tussinex and vicodin on top of that. Tussinex is a strong form of hydrocodone and not easy to get off when you are drinking 8 teaspoons a day. The withdrawls are unbearable.

I have not taken any more sub since Monday afternoon. I feel ok but still feel a little liek I am going to throw up. I am ready to be done with all of this. I amso tired of thinking about vicodin's all the time. I am going to start a health program with some of my friends and focus on getting healthy. I also think I need some consuling to figure out the root of the problem. My mompassed away when I was 17 and I never really dealt with it. I just became a drug user, weed, then , coke, x, meth and then finally shooting up meth for about a year and finally quitting. I have been clean from that for 12 years but now this. I am ready to change for good.

I think you are smart by not taking any more sub. Hydrocodone is considered a pretty weak opiate and I feel sub should not be used when detoxing from vicodin. I once went cold turkey off of around 25, 10mg lortabs a day. It wasn't fun but I survived and did just fine. Suboxone is normally used as a last resort for someone that has tried everything possible to get clean such as many attempts of cold turkey, tapering, and inpatient rehab. Sub is a VERY strong narcotic and some end up getting addicted to it and it is far harder to detox from than hydrocodone. Many say they would have rather detoxed from oxycontin or even heroin than detoxing from suboxone. I have even read where some people went back on vicodin or oxy's and tapered from them because they are so much easier to detox from. That being said, you made a very smart decision. It does have it's place, just not for a small hydrocodone habit.
Hang in there and know that with each passing day it will get easier and easier.

My husband was pissed too when he found out I was doing it the first time. I hid it pretty well I guess. He knew something was different but didn't know what. I have some valium (diazapam) I took to sleep last night. I feel pretty good today. I hope it is even better tomorrow. I am looking forward to spending 2010 clean and sober. I was clean for 2 months last year and then off and on for no more than 3 weeks. It makes me sick to think of how much time I have lost.

I am on day five clean from the pills/tussinex and I feel pretty great. I have been taking valium at night to help me sleep and has worked great. I know there are a lot of people against the suboxone but it helped me through the worst part which is always the first three days. It did make me throw up very bad but I will take that over the sweats, chills, goosebumps, runny nose, can't eat, can't sleep, etc...... I only took 6 mg total. I think where these dr's are going wrong is prescribing too high of a dose. I think I could have started with 2 mg and been fine. My Dr. wrote my script for 20 and I only got half filled which was still $65. So now I have 9 pills left that I don't need but hey I'm clean. I think people should be more informed and only stay on it during dsetox to avoid addiction and w/d from another drug. I am confident that I can beat this as I have been meth junkie who shot up several times a day, addicted to coke, addicted to xanex, and I quit it all cold turkey. I do think I need to reach out and talk to someone. I have a wonderful husband, son, and daughter. It is time to be there for them and be sober.
