Ultrcet is the time release form of Ultram/Tramadol. If I recall correctly, my dad was prescribed 100mg.

The dose you are on sounds rather low, but as the other posters have stated, this medication has a built in antidepressant and for this reason it is better to taper than stop cold turkey. However, you can do either.

I stopped a heavy ultram use several years ago. 90 50mg tabs would last me less than a week. I was taking the for what I thought was an energy boost and weight loss.

My detox lasted about 5 days, and I stayed home. The worst symptoms were anxiety (but mine was not dibilating) lots of running to the bathroom, and much restlessness in my legs especially, but also my arms.

What sent me to relapse was the emptiness I felt weeks in. I went to work, I did okay, and I came home and vegetated.

I'm here again and am on day 5. This time my DOC was mostly hydrocodone which can be easier to shake than tramadol. BUT everyone is different so when reading posts you don't need to let someone elses experience scare you to death. Yours will be different, maybe easier.

Hopefully some of the Tramadol Warriors will chime in. You don't sound like you are taking too much, and I think you can quit. I do know that we become dependent on tramadol somewhat faster than regular opiates. But again, each body is different.

I think you should talk to you doctor, and perhaps cut you intake before quitting totally. But just stopping, while having some withdrawal for a few days may be unpleasant, it shouldn't really hurt you.

This drug amazes me.  Are you down to that dose from higher amounts?  Was it a step down script for you from a diff opiate?  what are your symptoms?   more info please!

Hello and Welcome,

Let us know a little more information like how long you have been taking and if your are taking it for a medical reason or otherwise.

Are you taking the 50mg 1-2 times every other-day?

Ultracet (Tramdol) can be very hard to over come as it also have a anti-depressant effect/action which when stopped can cause not only withdrawals but also added depression.

You should taper down of Ultracet rather then quitting Cold turkey.
