Another wake-up call!

Just having a regular Saturday at home, getting stuff together for taxes, and just calculated how much I (rather, my family) spent last year on my abuse of Fioricet. Seeing it in cold numbers shocked me! No such charges this year. I don't even want to add up the amount for several years worth. It's strange how my brain was on automatic pilot when using and I never even really thought of the damage to finances. Feel even stronger now and am so glad to be done. We don't need to pay all these places/people to steal our lives! When I was working, got a call on my cell, unknown number, but I know it's the online pharmacies. I never answer. It's also a good reminder to stay clear, as though my conscience is calling! No question here, just had a dose of reality.

Luckily I was in for "only" about a year, but it was $3,500 ish. Nothing close to what Steven Tyler spent, but then I don't have a rock star income.

Once you get on a Drug Program here in New Zealand the cost is only $5 for the initial script whether it be Methadone, Suboxone or pure Codeine/Morphine.

I can believe that someone like Tyler could spend so much. Just an ordinary addict spends an incredible amount. At heart I am a tightwad, so seeing real numbers has slightly freaked me out! But that is a good thing. There are so many things I want to do instead of throwing money down the drain! travel, fun classes, my kids' education....and more. No kidding about the wardrobe--I put all my stuff to the side, probably cause I knew my share was being wasted on pills. Not to mention not being on top of things, like paying things on time etc. Time to look forward for a change.

Since we are confessing the bean-counting total, my costs are $58 every 12 days (# 100 10/325 generic Vikes). So that works out to $1700 annually times five years.

Oh well, not a shocking number to me, but if you offered me $8,500 to eat a plate of dog turds I'd probably simply ask "how big a plate?" After all, $8,500 could buy me a fully decked out Vespa, taxes and fees included. And I'd still have the scooter instead of a bunch of highs I can't remember.

I just read that Steven Tyler spent $6 million on cocaine when he was an addict.  Man, that blows anyone's mind.
Agree about the pesky pharmacies...I get at least 2-3 calls a day bith at home and cel, but I too never answer an unknown number.  But several have been so bold to leave message on my votive mail cel number. Totally pisses me of, and have blasted them to stop but they won't.  I read a r pst that said someone was still getting calls a year later!  Wish something could be done...never mind the emails on top!!

I've mentally done the math and its shocking!!  What I could have done with that money blows my mind.  Its nice to have some now when I want to do something extra like buying clothes.  I quit buying clothes for myself because all my money went into the pills. I desperately need to update my wardrobe.

I will not do that for a year cause I did n for a month I spent on lortabs and about threw up.A yr I shutter to think lol.I have noticed how much more money we have for little things like getting my hair done,bills actually paid on time(that was new the first few months)now if I can get my husband to stop with the ebay purchases so much we would b good.Oh I shouldnt complain.We still r fine with what he buys and it always goes toward making our vehicles run better or a computer to make money!!!
