Anti Depressants

Hi all. Day 40 clean from about 160 mgs of oxycontin daily. Finally went to Doctor and he gave me a 3 week supply of Cymbalta. I could no longer deal with the depression caused by quitting the Oxy. Can anyone tell me about any experience with Cymbalta. I have never taken anti depressants before. Apparently takes a week or two to work.

Good old fashioned exercise works for me.  Amazing what a little natural endorphin release can do for the mind and body.

Thanks a lot for the reply, I'm taking 60mgs a day (regular dose) I have to go see the Doc at 2 1/2 weeks to see how its working. I really dont want to take ads either but the depression aint goin away. Tried 5HTP and L Tyrosine... nothing

Congrats on the 40 days clean from the oxys -- not an easy thing to do!  I've never taken antidepressants, but I do know that Cymbalta is an SSNRI rather than the usual SSRI.  How many mg. are you taking daily?

I just wanted to know if you tried the amino acid protocol -- it is very effective for many people in warding off the depression, sleeplessness, etc. that many go through once quitting opiates (and other drugs).  I think it would be worth your time to look into the aminos (if you haven't already).

I wish I could offer more help, but I purposely stayed away from antidepressants, opting to use supplements instead (and fortunately they've been working great for me).  I know others on this site will be able to give you more info on the Cymbalta and related drugs.

Again, congrats on the 40 days.  Let us know how the Cymbalta works for you.

I starting taking celexa ant-dep it takes about 2 weeks to start working, but they sure have helped me..66 days clean and never felt better
