I jumped off Subs almost 60ndays ag9 at around 4.5 mgs. It is terrible for 2 weeks. After that it's like anything else. Mental games. Physically you have to rebuild your system. But seriously I understand your apprehension. Try Gatorade or Pedialyte for vomitting. Wish you the best! My children are loving the junk out now me. I'm up early and am very attentive now. You will love your new life! Peace to you.
All i can comment on is what worked for me....i took opiates for 7 yrs then to get off of them found the subs. This turned into another 7 yr addiction at 24mg a day. I didnt taper, i went cold turkey jan 1st, 2014 and your right.....it sucked ***!!!! I missed over a month of work, lost probably 8/10lbs cause i couldnt get off the toilet....was an emotional and physical wreck for months afterwards. What worked for me was getting my *** to N/A. Im nit going to say its the only program that works cause its the only one i tried, but its working for me. As soon as i could walk and talk at the same time i did the 90/90....90 mtgs in 90 days. I cant explain in words how much "brain" relief i got from these mtgs b/c i dont think people believe it, but i did! Hearing what others did to help themselves, helped me! Youve been on subs for a long freakin time my friend, and your obviously having trouble with tapering (which i did to b/c im an addict, i would start to feel bad and convince myself to start the taper later) so its time to make the decision. Put a plan in place and jump.....keep posting and let us know what u decide. This site helped tremendously during my w/d and beyond....you can so this....
I agree....it would have been much better to just kick the hydros. I went off of hydrocodone cold turkey the first time I quit and it wasn't an picnic but it was doable. Not exactly as bad as I had it built up in my mind. I was taking about 5 to 8 a day of the 10/325's. I had to have surgery and PT and went back on them, and stayed on longer than I should have....dreading the withdrawals, and did a taper that time. I was taking 5 or 6 a day. I did a slow taper over a month and had a few of the side effects but not anything as bad as the first time. I admire your determination and so please stick around and you will get all the support you need. I don't know anything about subutex, but perhaps if you do a taper over a long period of time, dropping just a fraction at a time, that will work for you. Good luck to you!
How many mgs of subutex are you on?
You were on 10 mgs of hydro and went on subutex????
I'm a dork sorry ct shoulda known that was cold turkey! Thanks again..... I've done the 1/8 even my problem is I ALWAYS end up in hospital from vomiting 19 days of vomiting was the longest I went before having to eventually go to er. I feel so hopeless because of this. I've had Dr tell me because if this I'd be on subutex fie the rest my life. BUT I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THIS AND WILL CONTINUE TO TRY UNTIL IT KILLS ME. My one yr old son needs his mommy to watch and help him grow up. For him ,hell for me ,I'll never give up
I wholeheartedly agree with pillguy. I did subs myself and tapered. From 8mg to 4 down to an unspecified amount (meaning I cut them so small-smaller than an eraser tip). This took almost a year and I stopped completely in March. It was not pleasant because the drop from 4mg to the smallest pieces was only about 2 weeks. It took a long while for me to feel better. I'm not so far along I would say I feel normal because I'm not sure what is normal anymore. But I do know I'm feeling better than being on the subs. So, it is worth it!
Thanks for the reply I appreciate any and all advice regarding this ....thanks so much
CT = COLD TURCKY TO JUST JUMP WITHOUT TAPER
Thank u what is CT ,,,,????
I "weened" off subs. it took 6 months and I set myself up in a way that made it hard for me to bail. I tried for a year with no success. I had a fair amount of contempt for treatment programs. All I had to do was stop, but it just never happened. I told family and friends what I was doing, I encurred some debt. I got rid of my connections. I wasn't perfect. Sometimes I'd take some extra early in the month leaving me with less for later. Sometimes I wondered how I was goint to make it. But I DID make it. Its been almost 4 months and I'm really starting to feel really normal. You'll have your work cut out for you convincing me that taper doesn't work. I've done my research on subs. Even at 2mg the WDs are almost impossible to deal with. There are people here who've jumped from 4mg, even 8mg but the best outcomes statistically are when people taper to low doses, and I'm not talking about 1 or 2mg. I'm talking about a 1/4mg or even 1/8mg. I did 1/4mg. The WDs were unpleasant but not unbearable.. That depression and lack of energy after the WDs, that lasted almost 2 months. I get it that the lack of energy and no sleep is bad.
I'll try my best to give you options but we all know there's no secret. IT *****.
1. Taper: It has worked. It minimizes the strength and length of WDs.
We are addicts. Tapering is very difficut to do
2. Quit CT : Some have had some success but I don't know how they do it. Even if you only take a few mgs a day, because of the long halflife the drug continues to build up. And its unbelievable strong.
3. Switch to a full agonist opiate. This is a double-edged sword. Because subs have reduced euphoria, your reward center in your brain starts to recover. When you use the full agonist opiate you're firing that reward center on all cylinders. It may be easier to get through the WDs but I belie\ve it will have a negative effect on your longterm recovery.
Im not sure if we can mention other websites. if we can, its kinda like
"helpmegetoffdrugs-dot-com. There's lots of info on subs, At least you can make up your own mind. Good luck to you. I hope you can find your way back home.
