Brands of supplies for sub w/d

Ok everyone I have read the Thomas recipe and this weekend I'm going to get some things for my upcoming sub w/d. So anyone with experience using this recipe which brands or items did you have the most luck with? I did the Epsom baths before and I can't do those they have me blisters on my skin??
Any other recommendations please let me know. I go to 1 mg of subs tomorrow so in the next 1-2 weeks I will be done. It all depends on my body I'm not going to rush things. I'm going to take the approach of really just kind of feeling it out. Thanks

I started my subs a few weeks ago on feb 24th to help me get off the fentanyl. I started to taper around a week or so. I have been doing fine with my tapers. I see no reason for me to take it if I really don't need it. If it was up to my doctor he would still have me on 12 mg which I think in my case is just silly. I'm just speaking for me and my case that this is right for me. Everyone has a different journey and different needs. I just want to make sure everyone understands that I am just speaking about my journey. I want it to be very clear I'm in no way judging anyone else on what's right for them on their journey :)

Hi, awesome decision! I have been off of Suboxone for 8 months after using it for 4 years so I can relate to what you are jumping into!! Don't rush it like you said and listen to your body. Lots of baths are my best recommendation when you are feeling crappy. Also, light cottony clothing since you definitely sweat a lot!

You are doing SO good!  And knowing AHEAD of time and asking questions will bless you BIG TIME!  I was 55 days in....before I even found this forum.  The more equipped we are, the more we will succeed.

I agree w/fourjays on the clothing prep.  COTTON is important....it absorbs moisture.....clean everything; pj's, towels, sheets, pillowcases....I used LOTS of pillows, had a hot pad (two actually, two sizes) and started in a fairly clean "detox bedroom" haha!  I didn't feel like dusting or vacuuming or organizing....but some peeps actually do, I guess.

Since the epsom salts don't agree with you, they have a huge tub of what is called "magnesium flakes" you can buy to soak in.  I had generic capsules of benedryl and many, many herbs for sleep along w/melatonin.

I hadn't heard of the Revive water until I met Julie, ha, so I drank daily, sometimes 2x/day Emergen-C packets....lots of flavors to choose from.
That way, no matter what shape my tummy was in, I got ALL my essential B vitamins, C, all the minerals, some antioxidants AND electrolytes, too.
I drink LOTS of water......VERY important for lots of reasons.
Alot of peeps suggest having some Ensure or Boost to drink when you don't feel like eating.  I really gagged on that stuff and didn't have the money to buy enough to fill me up really, so I went back to an old "high school trick" and drank Carnation Instant Breakfast (called Breakfast Essentials now).  I prefer the rich milk chocolate, ICE COLD milk and if you can chew it.....warm peanut butter toast is good with it and gives you more protein.  the instant brkfst has 2x the protein of an egg to help build muscle, 2x the calcium of yogurt 2x the Vit D as a glass of milk, and 2x the Vit C of a 4 oz orange juice.  I was kinda lactose intolerant while on opiates, but found I could drink these and they tasted SO much better to me than that little bottle of ensure.
Also, I laid in some "snack" foods that would help w/my dopamine shortage......I loved real turkey sliced from a deli, swiss cheese, eggs....fixed any way any how....I CRAVED eggs....the good ones that have more omega's and nutrients in them....REALLY yellow yolks!!
I began drink V8 juice, too.  I wasn't in any shape to juice raw stuff....no energy and no money either, so the six packs of V8 were good with my other high protein snacks.
There are some journals and some health pages about many other things....but those are some that worked for me.
So glad you're here and continue to post so we can all share in your journey~

Hello -

Great idea to get everything in advance . . . there are just a couple of things that I will suggest from my personal detox experience . . . I'm a big Vitamin Water pusher (they should start paying me for advertising , ,lol), the "Revive" formula was SO helpful that first week or so.  I am usually not a fan of the flavored "waters", but this one is full of B vitamins, potassium and electrolytes - ALL things very helpful during detox.  There is another one (Vitamin Water) called "Energy" or something like that - it is orange, and it was good too.  Funny, I had never even tried one of those things before my detox, but now I still drink them a few times a week!  If you like bananas, eat a few a day - I really think this helps the RLS thing (its the potassium I think, like in the Revive).  I haven't looked at the Thomas Recipe in awhile - it may already include magnesium(?).  If not, I would definitely have some of this too.  Helps with RLS and sleep.  One other thing - I have heard people say to use the name brand Immodium; I don't know if there is a difference, but I DID use the name brand, and it was a lifesaver for me.  Lastly, I had a lot of problems with hot/cold sweats & felt icky & smelly all the time.  I kept a pile of clean washcloths, towels, t-shirts, (comfy stuff) ready so each time I had a "meltdown" I could clean up and put on all clean stuff - it really felt great (& kept me busy - changing my clothes all the time:)

So - I am sure you will get lots of other suggestions.  Good luck - and keep posting with how you are doing ok?

Julie
