I know I would never kill myself. I have 3 beautiful babies to live for, but can suicidal thoughts happen with the depression and anxiety from withdrawl from hydro's? I have never had these thoughts before and when they come uninviteingly they scare the *&^% out of me. Has anyone else ever experienced this with withdrawl??Please help!!!

I would love to talk further with you. To talk to someone that has been through it seems to help.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. This site has really helped me alot through this. I am way over the physical w/d but for me the mental w/d is killing me. I am tired of feeling like I am crazy. I was starting to think that I was bipolar or something.

Just saw your 25 days clean, CONGRATS. Check out that link GTMI gave you, PAWS happens for most around a month clean 90 days, etc, and for some it almost feels like w/d's all over again. A lot of cravings and depression for many too during PAWS. You could be experiencing this, it is very real. Good luck and keep posting!

W/ding from almost any drug can cause depression. Not only is the body going through a lot, but also the brain. It is an overwhelming adjustment getting clean and there is help. Although I did not abuse hydro's, coming off my drug cause MAJOR depression and sometimes crazy thoughts. The feeling of hoplessness and things that we normally don't think of. They are very scary and I know there are others on here that felt this.  Like GTMI said, if you can see a dr and see about some anti-depressants for awhile it might be a life saver. While using drugs, our brains start to rewire themselves and not everyone is the same. It takes time to adjust, it really does. Bouts of major depression is no fun. Did you ever have depression before the hydro's? How long have you been clean?

YES they most certainly can. I too was suicidally depressed during some of my WD's (i've done it many times). I have been a lifelong sufferer of depression and have been off and on prozac for it for years and one of the times i detoxed off vicodin, i wasnt taking my prozac and OMG i was A MESS to put it mildly. Crying my eyes out non stop, felt hoplessless, full of despair and felt like killing myself. I also knew that i wouldnt actually do it either (i also have 2 small children), but even knowing that i would never actually go through with it didnt stop my emotions from wanting to end it all at the time. It was awful. My heart goes out to you. THe good news is, it will get better! For awhile, I was afraid I would keep crashing down down down in my depression, but you CANT FALL FOREVER and theres a bottom you hit eventually and then the only way out is UP. You can crawl back out of your pit too. Hang in there, it will get better, I promise! PM me if you need to talk more or anything..

Major depression is nothing to mess around with. Take a look at the Health Pages (top right of page, http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=66 ) Read up on them. Especially PAWS parts 1,2,3 Part 1 is here: http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Addiction/PAWS-part-1/show/39?cid=66 )
If things are feeling hopeless and suicidal you may need to take an anti-depressant for awhile.
