Curious about the effects of antidepressants during recovery

Hey everyone...I'm hanging in...day 5 today. I feel blah, no energy, no motivation, nothing. It blows. It's all I can do to even come on here and write this post. I was just wondering if anyone has has any of the depression from getting clean kept in check by taking antidepressants?? I ask because I actually have a history of depression and anxiety (I'm terrified of this coming back tenfold) and I take lexapro 20mg...and wellbutrin xl 300mg currently. My wellbutrin dose was bumped up a month ago from 150mg...so I'm hoping that maybe that will help me fight the depression crap from this? Just curious to hear of anyone's experience with antidepressants and withdrawals. Thanks guys.

Hi there,  I've come off of both trams and hydros
At different times and I've been on Effexor each time and I can guarantee it helps.  Just hang in there.  The fog will lift.  I am
Almost 2 weeks clean from trams and it's lifting for me.  The first week was rough but I feel like I'm starting to see the light -
Not 100% yet but it's getting better.  I think my recovery has been quicker than some people suffer and I attribute it to the antidepressants.  Exercise also helps a lot,

Hi Jen I think they do help. I was put on Lexapro 10mg daily by my gyne for symptoms of menopause because I cant take hormones due to a history of Breast CA. I am also a chronic depressive from childhood pretty much. Anyway I used the AD before, during and after this addiction. I can tell you it really helps me. I do have depression now as part of the manic/depressive symptoms of PAWS, but its not as bad as it could be. Hang in there Jenny.

I don't plan on changing anything that I'm currently taking...just wondering if the antidepressants can help with the depression that can come after the hardcore physical withdrawal.  Thanks for your post :) hang in there!

I have a history of depression and PTSD and anxiety. I have quit pills a few times and also notice I pretty much quit taking my antidepressant stuff when I'm on all the opiates! I feel better and think I don't need them, plus as much of an addict as I am, I'm a little scared of mixing pills. But anyway, yes I've had experience in what your asking. I'm totally opiate free only 4 days, but I've been working on it for a month! And I've been taking all my anti depression and anxiety medicine and I definitely think its helping! Of course, always talk to your Dr and work out a plan for what's best for you. My Dr has me on 40 mg of paxil, 450 mg of trileptal, 1 mg klonopin, 50 mg of seroquil, which I rarely take, and he has just given me gabapentin, which I wasn't sure I would even take until I read some posts here that it helps with wd. And I think it helps me alot, the regiment my Dr has decided on for me. Please make sure you talk to your Dr before changing anything. I also take multivitamin, calcium and d, and different forms of vitamin b. Everything helps everyone differently though I think...
