DURAGESIC

I HAVE BEEN ON DURAGESIC FOR 6 YEARS, I WAS AT 100 4 MONTHS AGO THEN DRPPED IT TO 75 AND NOW AFTER 3-4 MONTHS I AM ON 50MCH PATCH... I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OFF THIS POISON.. ITS BEEN A 6 YEAR NIGHTMARE AND I AM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE IT END.. HAVE A HIP PROBLEM AND USED IT TO BUY MORE TIME UNTIL TOTAL REPLACEMENT.. THIS PATCH HAS BECOME MY WORSE DISABILITY.. ANYONE KNOW OF A DETOX OR WEAN OFF DRUG FOM HERE.. THE DROP ON THESE  PATCHES ARE HORRIBLE.. I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE ON THIS PATCH TO GET OFF ASAP.. I STARTED ON 25 AND ENDED UP ON 100 FOR ALMOST 4 OF THE 6 YEARS..
THANKS

you say you could not stand them any longer what side effects were you having to want to stop them? The have gave me percoset to come off but I have not taken any. Just trying to lower it little by little and put a new patch on at the same time every 2 days.

I was on the patch and had horriable 8 days coming off. I had started last summer on 25 mg then went to 50. then in Dec had spinal fusion surgery. the last day of Jan I couldn't stand them anymore and ripped them off, then went through 8 days of hell. I feel sorry for anyone on this drug, its a nasty one, they say its like herion. now its been almost a month and although I don't feel any physical symptoms, I do feel depressed, how do I get that part away?

See I had no problem coming off duragesic.  I was on 150 patch and I tapered off completely in one month with hardly any w/d symtpoms.  My doc did a slow taper od I think 25 mcg every 6 days.  Also the clonidine patch made a HUGE difference in helping to wean.  No jitters, it was great.  Also, he gave me 20 5 mg oxycodones to help if I did feel w/d's.  I seriously had no problem whatsoever.  Now, I have to take Oxycodone for my disease and I'm trying to wean down and it SUCKS!!!  I have terrible w/d's.  I just want to deal without meds.  Just go slow and ask about the Clonidine and breakthru meds for the occasional w/d feeling.  I wasn't on it as long as you, but Fentanyl had a very short half life and tends to be a little easier to come off of then other narcs.  Good Luck!!!!

Not good news here bro....you have two ways....Cold turkey or a slllooowwww taper.  I was on a 75mic patch for 6 months and the doc brought me off in one week....he said this could be done safely and with no side effects...way he ever wrong.  I suffered for 2 weeks with depression, no sleep...the regular things a person goes through when detoxing.

You can try suboxone if it is available where you are.  I never tried it but there are some here that say it saved their life.  Good luck to you and keep posting.  There are many caring people here that can help.
