Day 10!

Day 10 clean & I'm still only averaging about 3-4 hours sleep/night. That's the only thing I'm still trying to overcome...other than that, I feel amazing! I feel a bit guilty bc compared to others, I feel that my wd's weren't as severe. However, they still sucked enough to never make me wanna take a pain pill ever again! Haha! Hope everyones feeling alright today.

Hi Day Tenners(;

I'm happy to see you all posting your ten day clean time...I was thinking about you.  Keep up the work on your recoveries and the sleep will come....Don't fret about it-the mind is a powerful thing...It took me almost a month to get more than 5 hours sleep.  Meditation and deep breathing are highly under-rated in my opinion...They take practice but hey-you are lying there not sleeping so might as well give it a try!  I promise it will help.  Yes you can quote me on that....Praying to the sleep fairies for all of you....

I am also on 10 days clean, sleep is still an issue but I have been taking over the counter sleeping tablets, non addictive.  My doctor has also put me on medication to increase the dopamine in my brain and it has completely stopped the restless legs.  I feel like I am cheating a bit but I can't function without sleep.  I still feel very weak and have no energy but I am hoping this will get better soon.

keep up the good work everyone, we should all be very proud of ourselves and each other.

Congrats!  I'm right there with ya...day 10 here. I can SO MUCH relate to your description of the first 5 days!!!! My God, I had ALL of that!  Especially the insomnia feeling like it was going to make me permanently insane!!! But it didn't, and my body adjusted to it. Today I had the usual panic/anxiety, but it PASSES! All I have to do is wait. Tonight I feel GOOD! NICE WORK MAN!!

I never found the L-T stuff...so I didn't take it. If you quit CT NOW then you should be just fine to work on Sunday. You're gonna experience wd's tapering that quickly anyway...trust me, I did. in MY opinion, its best to flush the pills, stop CT, & just get the madness overwith. Whichever route u decide to take is good ttho...you're getting off the pills & that's what counts.

Yeah I've tried everything...just can't sleep!

Stacy, that's awesome you're quitting the pills! I was taking 40-80 mg oxycontin plus a bunch of Norco each day. I was on the Norco for about a year & a half & the oxys for about 5 months. At first I tried tapering, but I got bad withdrawals anyway so I decided to just quit cold turkey & speed up the process. Everyone is different but I will tell you my personal experience...

Days 1 & 2 were the hardest for me. The 1st day I had restless legs, diahrrea, hot/cold flashes, sweating, lower back pain, & just achey & extremely uncomfortable all over. No sleep. Day 2 I had all that again but then that's when the mental part set in too. To be honest, I felt a bit insane. I had uncontrollable spurts of crying & emotional breakdowns where I literally felt like I might be losing my mind. Pain all day long...mentally & physcially. No sleep. Day 3 all physical pain ended except lower back pain. Still a bit emotional, but mostly anxiety kicked in on day 3. I had several panic attacks. No sleep. Day 4 less emotional, but still anxious & still had lower back pain. Day 4 is when the no sleep started to stress me out quite a bit. Day 5 & after...just insomnia. I'm day 10 now & still only getting minimal sleep...but I don't let it stress me out anymore. If u have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! I highly recommend MAKING yourself eat HEALTHY during this process...even the 1st several days when u will not want to eat whatsoever, just make yourself. I believe that making myself eat had a lot to do with me feeling better sooner than a lot of people. I also took a multivitamin & an omega 3 fish oil pill every day (still taking those, actually.) My dr prescribed me Clonidine to take the first few days to help ease my wd's. Its a blood pressure medicine but its used to help with opiate wd's too. I don't have insurance & it only cost me $5. I highly recommend it.

Well done :) Are you doing anything to help you sleep? Like exercise or taking any medication? I am on day 18 and still not sleeping. If i do manage to fall asleep, it is only for an hour or so. A couple of nights I got about 6 hrs (day 7 & 9) in total but i was waking up every half hour or so. But i havent been exercising which a few people said would help, and i havent been taking any medication so i am wondering if that is why i still cant sleep.

Excellent job. And don't feel guilty about your detox not being as bad as others on this site. As long as it was bad enough to be burned into your memory, then that will help keep you from relapsing...As far as sleep, we'll all struggle for a while, but as I've posted before, you'll be able to handle it fine.
