I had an appt next week for a root canal. Well yesterday said decided it wanted to go hot!  Couldn't sleep lastnight from the pain. Advil didn't even touch it.

Woke up this morning trying to get in today. No luck!  I was in agony!  Could hardly talk. My wife says "give me the phone!"

Well whatever she did she was able to get me in at 9:30am!  Scrambled out the door and made it ontime. Tooth is much much better!  And zero pain pills, except Advil.

So I'm bragging on myself for managing without pain meds and my wife reminding the dentist about my history.

When you have support you win. Had I been on my own most likely would have said nothing about my history.

I'm pretty stoked right now!  I honestly put this root canal off with fear of pain and needing strong meds to help. Hopefully I'll never be in a position to need strong meds again but this made me realize I can tolerate a lot more pain than I thought!

I can feel your joy coming thru!!!  You DID excellent and I love your wife already...lol  She's my "kinda woman".  Glad you have her support; it's invaluable...can't put a price on that for sure!

I remember at about 90 days into my clean time I went to the dentist and had to fill out/update my basic info, standard procedure stuff.  I had to check a box if I had been addicted to any drugs.  I started sweatin, shakin, my arm pits started itching (lol....TMI) and I went on down the form....then back up to the dang box.....I FINALLY checked the s*cker.

I talked to my dentist who has known me since I was a really young thang...
and told him if I EVER need a pain med....to mark my chart to only give me the minimum number of pills required.  He said I had a VERY strong constitution and was PROUD of me.

I sang ALL the way home.......I relate to how good you are feeling...there are LOTS of joys in recovery.....and you are reapin what you sow now.

Ya!!!! I give you a big high five. Each and every Temptation we can pass we really need to give ourselfs a pat on the back. In your case if you really, really ever do need something for pain at least you have a very supportive Wife who can hand them out to you as needed. You are just pushing forward and I can tell you are getting much happier..I am very proud of you!

Yep got the root canal. I've had em before. Yes my wife was on the ball to keep the possibility iof pullsccoming into the house zilch.
Pretty scary if I had to wait till Tuesday not sure I could've made it. The pain was intense!  Easily a 8-9

YOUR my Shhhheroo! Did you get the root canal? Hopefully so, then the pain is nil. Your wife sounds like a strong determined living doll. Very proud of you.

I use to use dental work as an excuse to get some pills. Today was a big deal for me!

Great post. And yeah, sometimes we can get by without meds. But there may be a time when meds are necessary, so we have to have a system in place to manage that. Good job; and please, bragg away...You deserve it.
