Hey Tooter!
I know what you mean about the sleep issue. I go through the same thing every night. Will I or won't I tonight? But as I read other posts, it seems that a good night's sleep is a big problem for all of us. I wonder why? So weird. I have come off of stuff before, and all I had to do was sleep a couple of days and it was over. But since I got these back problems, lost my job, my car was repossessed, lost my insurance, I'd hit rock bottom. That was 6/10. So almost 3 1/2 years of medication. Like they say, just think of all the time you were using, vs. time clean. It's gonna take more time to get our sleep clocks in order. It's sad because whenever I would put my head down I would say "Ahhh, the best part of the day" I just loved to sleep. But I look forward to more clean time, waiting for my sleep clock to reset. Do you nap during the day? I try not to. I fight it. I wonder if that's good or not. Write me back Tootie and talk to me ok? Kat...:)
Kat, I don't nap. I'm tapering down on ambien . The last 2 nights I've cut 10mg a 1/4 . That shouldn't cause me to lose that much sleep. It worked the first night. I woke up and had to take tylo pm and went right back to sleep. It didn't work last night. I took 2 more tyl pm's at 5 am this morning and dozed on and off till 7;30. I'm sorry to hear how bad you've had it. Hope this turns both us around
Tooter some of it is the ambien taper. You've been on it a long time. I've only been on it for about 6 months and every time I reduce my dose I don't sleep more than a couple hours. It usually levels out after about 3 days. The best thing to do is not stress about not sleeping. If you can't sleep just get up. Its normal and part of the process. You can Google ambien withdrawal and read others stories of getting off this garbage. It is a very ling slow process. But well worth it!
Insomnia is temporary as you taper Ambien and stabilize on your present dose. Ambien has a very short half-life, designed to leave no hangover. Nice and user friendly, but wicked when trying to stop! Ask your doctor what he/she thinks about spreading it out; half at bed the other half when you wake up in the middle of your sleep period? I'm sure they'll figure out something to make you somewhat more comfortable. Keep on truckin tooter, you WILL get thru this by taking it just one day at a time.
Tapering off the ambien will cause this. I agree with Open to talk with your doctor.
I went to family group at church tonight. It was nice to get out. This afternoon I started cleaning out the file cabinet again. Just gave one file on automobile's to hubby, I know there is a bunch that can be thrown out !!!!! Going to walmart tomorrow and getting stuff to make cakes and things. Anything to get my mind off of pain. I going to bed shortly. Pray everyone gets a good nights sleep!!!!!!!! God Bless
