Going to warn you from my experience . The messing around with the oter drugs to help ease w/d (for me), was a huge mistake. I was the Queen of playing pharmacist thinking I'd beat the detox train. I ended up getting dependent on ativan, ambien, and drinking way too much wine. All it did was prolong my w/d and freak my head out further. Less is better while getting off these meds. Can you talk to a Dr, about a weaning schedule for the trams? Hydro's are no picnic to get off of either....In fact they are brutal. Is your wife supportive?

Hi Thomas and welcome!
I personally have not struggled with Tramadol....but have a family member who is majorly addicted and doesn't think so.  I found a link here on MedHelp that is primarily Tramadol "warriors" and they have MUCH good experience, strength and hope there.  They are already on Part 54 of their exchange in the journal.  Here's the link:

I think it will really help you......thank God you are still alive willing...
Blessings to you~

Do as fireby says, get on a doctor prescribed taper. You will be ok as the more the drug is out of your system the easier it will be.

The tramadol/traumadol will kill you man.  This stuff is straight poison, and ought to be banned.  You need to get a doctor involved and get on a proper taper plan.  Tell your secret, get some help from a professional, and get busy healing yourself.

I TOTALLY agree with the others on this, you should NOT try this c/t. That is alot of tramadol my friend! I can tell you I came off of what I was taking a day which was about 20/day and it was not pretty. In hindsight I think I had several small seizure like episodes. If it was much lower you might be ok but really I think you should start cutting it down, or better yet talk to your Dr. about maybe helping?

Wish you the best!!

wow, that is alot of tramadol. you are very lucky to not have had a seizure daily.  a taper is the best plan with this.  you have halved your dose thus far and that is good.  sounds like you have an unlimited supply so a slow taper will be good for you.  i came off of tram over a year ago and it was pretty rough.  anxiety was really bad.  just keep tapering and you can get down to virtually nothing.  good luck to you.  just be careful, tram is one of the worst to come off of so take it slow and gentle.

Hello Tommy and welcome, So you are now taking 35 pills a day of the 50 mg pills? You are wise to not go the c/t route, not because of your responsibilities , but from what I have read on this forum, this drug needs to be tapered to avoid seizures. I don't want to comment to much as I don't have much ex with this drug, but more will be along. Let me ask you, if your don't mind. Where do you get your meds and can a DR. help you wean down?
