Xanax I've made it

Hello all just wanted to say thank you to many of you for the help through last 8 months or so. This place has been of great help to me. I am 80 days and counting off Xanax and Benzo's finally after years taking them. If I can get off these things anyone can I am here to tell you. I did it the careful way I ween myself off them per doctor orders and worked now it wasn't easy but I made it. I didn't sleep hardly at all for month but I have now found good sleep again like I use to when I was young and not taking nothing for sleep.  Any questions please ask I'll be happy to answer.

Have a good day and Thanks all!!!

Exercise is the best medicine for anxiety.  I had chronic panic attacks every couple of hours for two years.  My doctor tried everything under the sun for me and nothing was helping.  I joined a gym and soon I was a gym rat, the anxiety went away and my happy chemicals were flowing heavily in my brain.  I'm on day 9 right now and next Monday I'm starting back at the gym to combat pain from fibro this time.  I fully expect to manage my pain through natural methods and big pharma can go suck eggs!

YES the benzos help a LOT! I think xanax is the MOST effective, but ive been told by numerous doctors that klonopin and atavan is a better medicine. Xanax only works for 4 hrs, whereas klonopin lasts for 8 hrs if one really has bad anxiety(which i do, this was before getting addicted to opiates) I have post traumatic stress disorder.

I am 23 and recently quit painkillers and have always had anxiety but it has gotten really bad lately and I am seeing a doctor tomorrow. I am wondering if I should even start taking a benzo seeing my additive personality and whatnot but I really need the relief. It runs in my family and my mom takes ativan and has given me a few and they have really helped. I just don't want to end up back where I was with a even harder addiction to quit. The doctor also wants me to start antidepressant, I am scared of that too. But i want to feel good. What should i do?

That's a lot of xanax you were taking and good for you getting off and for 80 days wow thats fantastic. I think once people are off benzo's, the craving to take them again is much less than the narcotic pain meds. Did you have a lot of anxiety and thats why you started or was it for recreation??
