how much longer??? Yeah same old Question :)

I guess in my last post I didn't specify the main question. I appreciate ALL info (trust me), but I just want to know everyone's input on how long this torture will last.
God bless.

solie,,I just gave you my best guess based on my experience with a 300+ daily oxycontin habit in your other thread...Is some of the "hurry up and want it to stop" thoughts are starting to work on you...Try to breath ,meditate, anything to help calm these thoughts..They will be with you for another couple weeks and getting frustrated only makes things tougher on you..

...and we just love it when folks stick to one "thread"...

I know you're impatient.  You need to "let it be".  It will end when it ends. It won't be forever!!

I'm sure your appetite is not the best but I have a suggestion as to how I tried to divert my attention..Make some soup that you know in the back of your mind you always loved, make a sandwich,,ham, chicken, maybe even chrilled cheese, and find the most space out movie you can find and throw it on the tv..I did this alot as a "time killer" when things were really swirling bad in my head..And you know what? I also found out I "was actually" hungry, but wasn't allowing myself to feel the hunger because I was so pissed about getting myself in the mess I was and was focusing "too much" on the symptoms..:)..Try it..You might be surprised ..:)

On this board "how much longer" is just like it is for parents in the car with the kids "are we there yet"? LOL We as parents know we WILL get there, but the kids just keep on asking. We as recovering adicts know you WILL get there too, we understand the question. We all asked it at one time or another. I don't love Dr. Phil but there are a few catch phrases of his I do love. One of them is "as long as it takes". It is so different for all of us, some get an easy out others go through hell and back. Just talk to us, talk to yourself. Tell yourself, I am strong - I will get there and you will. Very, very loud music always helped me. I read that music releases endorphines and I have to tell you when I was in the midst of withdrawls the music set me free. Hang on, you will get there!

you want a day and time, and that is not possible as all of our bodys handle things differently. If I get a cold and you get a cold you might get over it in 3 days and 7 days later I still feel like crap, well the wds are the same. If you hear that it took 8 days for me and 13 days for someone else and then 3 days for someone else you will only hear 13 and it will scare you away. So let it just be and go with GACarol "as long as it takes".  I am 25 days clean!!
good luck and prayers to you,

Answering your other post, yes it is a big woooop. Yer darn right it is! Ain't nobody knows what it's like except somebody who's been there. That's one of the great things about, addicts mentoring addicts. [Not saying you are one] I agree with what 0421 said above and it's true. I think not many like to say much about the "real uncomfortable" withdrawals, on order not to scare someone off that's going for it? I was at a daily 200 around Christmas, tapered once to 140 or so and jumped. It was like you mentioned, really thrashing about to the point I temporarily wrecked myself, and it didn't work. I continued to taper as during my first attempt to detox, being as brutal as it was, it seemed as my tolerance to oxy and my pain level reset a bit? I continued with the taper but the next day I was able to tolerate about 80mg's. I think it was about 3 weeks I was down to under 35 and jumped. Tapering certainly isn't for everybody and many can't do it, especially without help or somebody slipping them a dose. We could call what your mom did as helping you with a really short taper? Of course for most just ct is the way to go. Hope this helps. Good luck

In South Africa there is a drug called Napacod. It's available OTC, has 10mg of codeine and 500mg of Paracetamol, in packs of 100. I've been using these for about 9 years now. Dosages depend on my emotional state, oh...and financial position. I take about 10 - 13 tablets a time, 3 to 4 times a day. At one stage I was taking about 56 tablets a day.

What struck me most was a post I read here about counting your tablets. It rang such a pathetic bell in my head, counting my tablets, thinking to myself, "okay, 25 tablets left, and no way to get to a pharmacy today. That means I can take 8 tablets, breakfast, lunch and supper". I bargain with myself, knowing full well that I won't be able to limit myself in reality. I constantly think about these cursed tablets! They are a pink nightmare.

I remember so clearly when I became addicted. Are these little "watershed" moments common? I mean, my addiction to Napacod consumes my thoughts, all day, every day. Madness!

Solie , I really don't understand why you would say something about "are we this harsh on anyone that asks your type of question?" Which I took to mean"how long can I expect these symptoms to persist?"..Did I mis-read the original intent of your first go at seeking an answer to a question?...

Because what I thought you were asking I answered as best I could in your other post and 10 minutes later you post this new thread saying,,"is anybody going to answer my question?..

I'm not trying to pick at you, I'm trying to figure out if your question was something other than I perceived it to be when you asked for some feedback about this process in your "Messed up again! Morphine!!! thread...For me, you starting this thread had me confused as to "did I miss something here?"..Dav

Since we are staying active in this thread verse's the other Solei, this is what I had written in the other post in case you didn't see it at the time...

First 3 or 4 days are really the worst for any hard physical symptoms like a severe case of the flu..After that, its underlying anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, emotions running wild at times for couple more weeks. Around the three week mark things stabilize some with energy and sleep coming back online so to speak..There may be lingering issues with depressed days at times as these drugs do knock a person's brain chemistry out of wack some. It takes time for it to get back to reproducing chemicals it was naturally regulating prior to the opiate use which changed the equations..Thats a quick overview of what your looking at..

DIDN'T MEAN TO CONFUSE YOU. YOU WERE ONE OF THE FEW WITH SOUND ADVISE. IT WAS THE "GEEEEE WE JUST LOVE TO START A NEW THREAD" AND "IT WILL LAST AS LONG AS IT LASTS" ...THAT OTHERS POSTED.

Hey, the good news is you are just about over the worst of this early portion of the wd's when feeling are really working overtime..It will continue some (meaning a growlly mood,), but will slowly turn around for you..I feel for you right now as I know exactly where your at right now..I had to eat that crow three times before finally ending the rollercoaster at the first of January..Try some advil and a hot shower..The shower does help give you some temp relief during this stage. I'd take two or three sometimes during the day to get that cloud off my head....Just hang in there..Time will start moving faster for you real soon...Just hang on..It does get better..

No,no,no,,throw that boring statement out..It is not boring to us..In the worst of this we try to divirt someone's attention from the wd's as best we can..The feelings flat out s**k and we all know what they taste like...Its a move /countermove thing in a way..Talking is one of the best ways to deal with it during this time..Set your focus on getting the day done and the next started. Before you know it, you "will" be looking back and it will be behind you..I know its hard to believe or feel this right now but keep moving, just keep your eye on the prize...

I'll bet there are some..Never asked the question myself but odds are there has to be..Our community leaders in a way could be considered sponsors in many ways...:)

Soleil518~

When someone posts a thread,it makes it much easier for other members to respond if there is just one thread going. Multiple threads makes everything confusing. We answer a question on one thread and then there's another thread popping up and it becomes a back and forth thing with info lost.

I was simply trying to point that out. We do love it when folks stick to one thread!

It was just a kindly reminder. This is stated in the "terms of use agreement" which you read and agreed to when you became a member. I meant no offense. I know this is a vulnerable time for you and I,in no way, want to add to your anxiety.

yeah I can understand the confusion with the two threads. Guess it was the WAY it was said. Maybe I'm a bit too sensitive right now. Like maybe,
"hey Soleil, can you just stick to one thread so we don't get confused?"
Anyway that's OVER. Lets move on.....
This morning I feel cills, freeeeezzzzing oh and a migrane from the pits of hell!!

Today should be your 6th day isn't it? Thats great(forget about the slip with your mom,,I'm not counting that as backing up)..

At first it was one day, now it is six, and soon to be many more..:)..If you can find the time, taking short walks that elevate your breathing some come to play now..Not overly exerting, but just enough to get your blood moving some..It feels tough at first, but it has a side effect of relieving some of the stress and anxiety in your system..
