day 2

Day 2 off of Hydro and it has really been the worst.  I have the runs, headache and a pannick like no other.  I am really dizzy and my herniated disc is out again, which i think is from the stress of trying to get off this stuff.  any advice does it get any better by day 3...i was taken 15-20 pills a day but more on the 15 side for about a year straight now.

thanks for all the post, getting better had some family in from college and we talked got my mind off things i even laughed a bit.  i do have the runs but hey that is better than being plugged and you all know about that.  i have been lucky enough to have been take the thomas recipe for a week leading up to my first day and i would say for the most part that might have what saved me from a very bad second day.  now just to let you all know my back is so bad i had to get steriod shots on my first day, but i went to my local clinic in my small town that does not prescribe narcs, to God be the glory, but that is why i went.  the doc looked at my back and the first word out of his mouth was i cant give narcs and you are going to need them for pain your back is in bad shape...i smile and almost cried all at once...guys take care and on to day 3, please pray for me i am a worship pastor at a church aswell and i am trying not to call in sick tomorrow, i need all your prayers.  God bless you all.

first of all, congrats on how far youve come! second, check out the Thomas Recipe and the aminos, they help a lot. if you cant do it on your own (many cant, like me.) Re-read Christos24's posts....seems to have a lot of experience and is telling it like it is, no B.S.  Thats how it should be. Best of Luck,

short term use of a benzo like valium or ativan will help tremendously with the anxiety, muscle problems, and insomnia, and get some ambien for strictly insomnia as well, if you are honest and let a doctor know what you are doing then they will have no problem prescribing them for a short period of time, till everything tides over, which feels like years but it always does.-christos

Thanks for replying.  I have been to NA and AA meetings before and they did help.  I wish I would have used my head before starting down this road again, but I felt like I could handle myself this time and am not surprised that was a mistake and know that it was just a rationalization to myself to take 4 or 5 10mgs at a time to get that "high" and that'd be it.....that's NEVER it.

i would look into seeing an addiction specialist or a psychiatrist experienced with substance abuse. i felt the same way for soo long. sometimes an anti-depressant works well for that general malaise(opposite of euphoria) feeling you have for months after stopping the use of opiates. A short term use of benzodiazepines like valium, ativan, or xanax will help with anxiety, cravings, muscle spasms and cramps and restlessness. it also really helps the insomnia and depression. i also strongly recommend a good non-fdrug solution is 1. surrounding yourself with other recovering addicts and good friends who want you clean, 2. going to NA meeetins, you can meet amny ppl with teh same problems youa re encountering and you  meet a lot of life long friends there, 3. counseling with group and one on one is crucial in keeping motivated and clean. this forum is also extremely helpful,if you have any questions are just want to vent let me know anytime im always here for anyone and everyone-christos

I have fought this battle too many times before.  I am 30 yrs old and have been taking as little as 20mg to as much as 120mg of hydrocodones per day.  I really dread the DT's but I have to do this.  I got off of them before, and I know I can do it again, it's just the mental obsession that kills me.  I ache all over and sometimes it"s hard to not mentally obsess  about how I can get my hands on something, or anything to help.  My question is what helps with the depression and feelings of hopelessness and the mental obsession?

You are doing really well. i mean it. just hold out you def. have the will power to do youve alsted this long. if you need to, if it keeps getting worse which i suspect for a couple(2) more days it will, go to a urgent care or a walk in clinic,or if necessary emergency room be completely honest tell them how far you are and what you are doing, they will commend you for doing it and give you a benzo, probably ativan(lorazepam) for the extreme anxiety, muscle cramps, spasms, and the rls, they may also give you some clonidine, which will help a ton with the sweats and chills, and blood pressure fluctuations. and give you info on a suboxone doctor if you need it. if you have friends with thsoe then do that but if you can do it with some tylenol, ibuprofen, some bendryl to help the runny nose, and sleep, alsxo some OTC immodium for the bad diarrhea and some OTC anti-nausea meds then give it a shot you are incredibly strong and making the best decision of your life-christos

the third day is the worst but after that its gets better and better day by day, but right now your almost at the climax...youve come a long way already, three days of CTing is like three years in prison and you want to die. i tried to CT off of severe two year heroin/Oxycontin addiction and even with tramdol, xanax, clonidine, immodium ad, ambien, and OTC anti-nausea meds(pretty much everythting they give you during a supervised hospitalized medical detox) and failed  many times, one time i stayed clean for two months though. i was proud of myslef, but then i relapsed and the vicious cycle ten times as bad as originally it was so i finally realized i couldnt do it alone, not many ppl can, they can deny all they want but when it comes down to it if your addiction is bad or severe you need help from others, support, and treatment. i first went through a hospital detox, and then started a suboxone treatment plan. i was clean for over 8 months and then i shattered my wrist so my addiction doctor strangely took me down to 4 mgs of suboxone(i was on 32 mg a day), and 240 mgs of MS contin(Morphine), it was a terrible mistake, cuz i started seeing a hand specialist and he was giving lots of norcos(10mg hydrocodones) 120 at a time and i ahd my addiction doc giving me the ms contin, it was bad. he even after a month took me completely off of suboxone. i saw everthing was starting all over again and it wasnt right, so its now been a little over 4 months, ive been goingto amethadone clinic at 80mgs a day, and am more productive, stable, structured, and motivated than i ever was. it saved my life. sorry for the length and geting off of track here.
