A laugh for you all today!

I'm trying to get my A/D meds straightened out and fing something that actually works.
As many of you know, this last 3 month has been a real struggle for me.
The Dr put me on Wellbutrin over 2 mos ago. I didn't feel that it was helping at all so I go back in 3 weeks ago to talk about it. Dr says well lets up your doseage and then I would like to see you in 2-3 weeks.
Ok, so that not I begin taking the higher dose. Within about a week, my lips go completely numb. Strange?  Yes very strange.
I go back in this morning bcuz it's now been 2 weeks that my lips have been numb and it's just not sitting right w/ me.
I asked to be put on a different A/D. She said no, I'm just going to up the dose again on your A/D med.  She looks at me and says, "Ya, maybe we better not increase it because this is probably what's causing your lips to be numb. It's a side effect of the A/D.  She then gave me a "vitamin" shot apparently to help the numbing go down?
I let her know also that my shoulder has been very very painful for a couple weeks and is only getting worse. Snapping at the shoulder and then pain that radiates down to my elbow.  So she writes me a RX for pain pills. I told her, NO I cannot take those. She says, "Well if you take them as prescribed and only for a short period of time, you'll be fine. NOOO, you don't understand, I cannot take them!
A Dr that knows your an addict shoving you out the door with RX's.  Told her No once again. She ends with, "Well, you could take Tramadol, it's not an opiate".  Why do Dr's not treat this stuff seriously?  It floors me!

If a doctor was ever hooked on opiates I am sure they would think twice before prescribing them, especially to someone who has an addiction problem.

Oh my god, when I was reading your post I was reminded about a stupid cartoon I saw on sesame street as a kid - guy goes into a diner, "I'd like a sweetroll and a glass of milk", waitress:  I'm sorry sir we are out of sweetrolls, man: okay I'll have a sweetroll and a coffee, waitress:  I'm sorry sir, as I told you we are out of sweetroll, man:  okay I'll just have a sweetroll. waitress - runs screaming out of the building.

These docs just don't have a clue with addiction.  Sarah - I got so frustrated from no direction on managing my pain I just started looking on youtube for physical therapy exercises and whatever else I could find and just started doing trial and error.  If they can't cut you open or shove a pill down your throat it seems many just don't care.

So sorry but you are hanging tough - you had a real test today and you passed with flying colors!

That is crazy.  I guess unless you have experienced it, you never truly understand it.  Good for you for saying no, especially when a doctor is telling you it's okay.
