I put ace bandages and then warmed up towels in the microwave and wrapped them in those...maybe it was just a comfort thing but it helped...the snuggly feeling and the warmth....hang in there...
Oh I been watching for ur post...ur doing great...
Hi Amanda,, I know that feeling all too well. Im sorry,,I know it really really *****. Have you tried eating a banana? Or taking some magnesium supplements? There is a supplement called Hylands Restless legs that really really helped me a lot. You can also try hot baths ( I took like 5 a day) with epsom salts and sometimes light walking around really helped as well. Dont give in,,the RLS was one of the toughest things for me to deal with. Hang in there~Bkitty
Be careful of hylands restless leg. It contains quinine which can be fatal if over done, but can be safe if taken correctly.
Amanda- Hot baths with Epsom salt really help. The magnesium in the salt is absorbed through your skin and it's very soothing and relaxing to the muscles. It's wonderful! Epsom salts are inexpensive and you can pick it up in most grocery or drug stores.
Don't dismiss vitamins and minerals either. You need them right now! Pick up some Cal/Mag supplements,as well, and force the fluids; especially Gatorade.
All the above works pretty quickly, too! Did you get any sleep?
Thank you! Last night was really difficult but in hanging in there. How are you doing?
I will try hot showers. I dont have a bath in my apt. but I amtaking multi-vitamin. I slept but woke up like every 3 hours. I just hope I can stay like this not using
How long will this w/d last?????
Amanda,
great job, I wondered about you last night. It is going to get worse before it gets better. Day 3 with no pills was the worst day for me. By Day 4 and 5 physically, I was better except occasional stomach issues. I am still having sleep issues on Day 11 but nothing horrible.
Remind me how much you were taking and for how long? Percocet?
I think it's very tough the first 3 days and then it's annoying and then it's learning how to live without the pills...but it takes about 72 hours to eliminate the drug so that's why I said 3 days...
There are things that really help so don't ignore their importance. Fluids are the most important and then minerals. Your body just needs it!! Multi vits are great and get some extra capsules of magnesium and potassium to take,as well. It works right away for RLS!
It helps a lot to post on the forum so stay close!
Thanks for your concern. I wanted to post while everything was happening last night but I couldnt. Too much pain. I appreciate the heads up about the w/d!! I just feel like i'm really doing it and i cant turn back now. Day 11, good for you. It must feel great to know the worst is behind you.
Thanks vicki. I was taking about 4 percs a day but went upto as much as 5. Also about 6-10 vics a day i I didnt have percs. For 2 years straight and on and off for about 5 years
When my boyfriend goes to get his script. I amgoing to have him get me magnesium and potassium pills and also some gatorade
Good idea; it will help. Hyland's works quite well and it's pretty safe; just follow label directions. Drink as much as you can...
Yes...you're really doing it!! I hope you can handle having pills in the house and NOT taking them. They can really scream your name so be mindful of the head games to come, okay?
Be sure to eat,get comfy clothes on, hot showers and a lot of distraction!
Amanda,
Imodiam is Very important because you will be getting really bad stomach issues. I hated the restless legs. Walking does help although all you want to do is lay in bed and die. I hope you can miss work tomorrow too because tomorrow and Saturday will probably be the worst of it. I quit at Christmas because I was off work. I woke up at 3 am last night and never went back to sleep. I am going into work late because I am so tired. I am a little depressed today too but this is all normal.
If he can get you something for sleep too. I have script for ambian and it has helped but even it doesnt help some nights so I got some sleepy time tea. I never see many people recommending night time cold medicine but it helps too. Nothing with alcohol in it though. I used Alkazelter Plus night time. I have been sneezing and coughing which is normal so it helps this too.
You have been given good advice so i just wanted to tell you to stay strong and keep it going!!! You can do it!! sara
Hi Amanda...I know it's rough and day one can mess with you in all sorts of ways but hey-you're doing this and that's awesome! I echo all the good advice given above and will add to have your b/f pick up some melatonin and valerian root (health food store) if you aren't on antidepressants...Melatonin helps with sleep (you have to take it at sundown) and valerian is nature's valium....Also-listening to music really helped me on my worst days....Try it out. We're here for whatever you need....Lu
Thanks so much for the support guys. I just ate some toast and tool the supplements. I just hope it all stays down now. Yeah I can see the pills in the house being an issue he is walking around with them in his pocket and I hear them clinking. I am soo disgusted I dont even care about them. But I can see when I get back to life normal, sobor with the stresses it can def be a problem. He said he is def quitting after his surgery. So at least I know its only a matter of time until there not in the house anymore.
I can only imagine the depression that sets in but, know that you are on the right path and at least it can get better now. Using assures it will only get worse. XOXOXOXO
How much clean time do you have?
Hi Amanda....sorry all i have is my phone and don't always have service everywhere.....I'm sorry your feeling so bad....you asked how long and I really don't want to tell you my experience but I was on it for way longer and much stronger and higher dosage so mine is way worse than yours...but average they say is 7 days....with three through five being worse....but just remeber the voice and it will give u the strength to push forward.....it takes time but it is very much doable....just don't panic and go with your body and listen to it...I have learned so much from my own body now that i can actually hear it....i don't take anythink now not even natural stuff....just to scared of anything right now....maybe it will pass but i was truly traumatized by my wds......but please please please whatever try to drink.....that's how i ended up in the hospital i couldnt keep anything down....best wishes and we are all here.....
Wow, everybody! I'm extremely proud of all of you! I'm almost to 40 days clean and I have to admit reading your posts made me remember, how unfortunate it is to go through all of this, but you must remember, your will power is what drives you and this is for you and you alone. Yes it is self and yes it s*class, but you will eventually reach "normal" again. It may take a lil while, but in the end when this is all over your body will thank you in so many ways. Like I was advised, please seek after care as well, because it is very important if you wanna get clean and stay clean.
Best wishes - bettermomma
Amanda...
You are doing the right things and the only concern is obviously your b/f and the pills...But you know that. Do you have other support while you go through this incase the mental stuff proves too much? Bananas and Hylands really helped my RLS...as did walking, yoga stretches, hot baths (sorry you don't have one but hot showers can work) and massaging my calf muscles with Tiger Balm (Asian) Hydrate. Take deep breaths....Be kind to yourself....Proud of you...Lu
Hey guys so almost through day 1 this is going to sound crazy but all I want to do is eat. LOL. Anyway took a hot shower it helped a LOT. But now my legs are starting to bother me again a friend of my bf dropped off some colonipan to help me but I wanted to check to see if this is ok to take. Did anyone take this before? Is it ok to calm the withdrawel I do not have xanex or anything like that
