Does anyone know if addiction is genetic? I think I heard it might be. Because I have been addicted to a lot of substances in my life...still am but am working on it. All my siblings are addicts. Or is it a generation thing. I guess I can google it but I'd rather get your thoughts.
My unresearched, non-scientific answer is no. I think it is more of a behavioral inheritance. We see our family/friends using substances to cope with life, and that's what we learn. Drugs have been around since mans beginnings, unfortunately we hippies didn't start it lol. We just took it out of the closet.
I believe it runs in families, my mom was an addict...my grandpa drank, a few cousins etc
