To all of you,
I also wanted to add that i utilize all of the support here on medhelp as often as time allows me and i can never thank you guys enough for this blessing you have brought into my life. I love all of you and no matter what stage of addiction or recovery you are in, you are all an ispiration to me every day. All my love, Jacky
Avis,
I think of God as the solid foundation on which i base my recovery. I attend the Addiction Recovery Group meeting at my church every wednesday night, i see my substance abuse counselor every tuesday morning and every monday morning and saturday night i attend an NA meeting group which is held at my local hospital. I do all of these things rountinely but my faith and spirituality i am sure is what has kept me on this path. God Bless. Love, Jacky
other then god are you getting recovery meetings two ? aa/na .... or are you doing a chuch addiction meeting
I HAVE ONLY JUST REALISED THAT WILLPOWER IS NOT ENOUGH. I USE MY WIFES ILLNESS TO KEEP ME ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW. AND FOR 17 DAYS IT HAS WORKED SO I AGREE WITH AVISG WHAT EVER HIGHER POWER WORKS FOR US. IM STILL NOT ABLE TO DO ANY RECOVERY JUST YET BUT I WILL DO AS SOON AS I CAN WALK WITHOUT MY LUNG FEELING LIKE ITS ON FIRE ,,,JAMES GOOD POST
Gnarly,
Thank you for asking, that is very sweet of you. He is doing much better now that we are seeing some warmer wheather. His doctor seems to think that this may be a viscous cycle for him through the cold months and that a warmer climate where the whether and seasons dont change so drastically may be better suited for him. But we have decided that we will try another winter here in New England as he also said some babies with this problem do grow out of it, but if we dont see an improvement through next winter a move may be in our future. The wheather we are having now is doing wonders for him and i thank you for your kindness in remembering my son.
God Bless and Love, Jacky
I too would not be able to do it without God. But, he has always been a huge part of my life, on drugs and off...I cannot speak for those who do not believe, but I couldnt have made it this far in my life without him.
I pray for all kinds of people all the time, lots of them don't believe in him or a higher power at all. That is sad, but the way of this life.
God Bless You All,
Michele
Hi Jacky for me there was a lot of truth in what you said ....my withdrawal was long and drawn out because it was methadone I had to taper for 8 1/2mo and without Gods power
I dont think I would have made it....there where many times that its seamed hopeless
each time God showed up and got me past it ...theirs a lot of power in prayer and I had
several people praying for me as well as my own faith in God that he would deliver me
I feel sorry for those that dont know of his love and grace and try to go this alone
at 3am he's all you got and when battling addiction you need everything you can to get thew it....for those of you who do know Jesus...just know you can call on him to help you thew this mess...and im living proof that it works ...good luck to all that are trying to get clean and God bless.....Gnarly....BTW Jacky hows your son been doing??
To Rebecca and KC,
That is not a question i really feel i can answer for you as i have always know God as a part of my life. I can tell you that for nearly the past 10 years i have tried almost every way to recovery on my own and until recently when i asked Heavely Father to take over my problem and guide me to healing, i had never seen 44 days clean. I do hope that you can get and stay clean and work a successful program of recovery, however that may be for you. Even if you dont believe, i will still keep you both in my prayers as i know you are still children of Heavenly Father. Love, Jacky
I was going to ask the same thing KC.
You may enjoy the Addiction: Spirituality User Group too. Here's that link:

Find whatever higher power works for you and a very good recovery program with lots of support this is what will help you stay clean . Willpower,Gods power or any higher power needs extra help too....
Very glad you have found a path to get and stay clean. It's not the only way, though, and it's not been the one for me. Insisting that there's only one way to get clean simply is not true for some (perhaps many) of us. Keep up the good work.

Does this mean that if I don't believe in god, that I can not be drug free? kc
Your so right, willpower will not beat the disease of addiction alone. I thought for a long time that it would in the past, but I was wrong. It took me surrendering, a lifestyle change, support and believing in a higher power to wake me up and stay clean. It's not easy at first, but so worth it. Congrats on your clean time also, keep working it:)
