methadone withdrawla

I have take methadone for  about 25 years. First in a program to get off herion and now illegally to get by. The amount I take varies depending on how much money I can get and who I can get to sell me pills. I have had enough and need to get off. I have tried calling programs but there are none in my area that will accept my insurance.they will only accept medicaid participants. I do not have a dr. or a daily dosage that I take. How do I get help to get off? I live in NJ

I would like a little more info, so I can help you more. I was on street methadone and never took a steady dose either. I did have a minimum dose though. How many mgs do you need to feel good enough to function? Have you tried to taper down? Do you have to work through this? Are you healthy otherwise? Do you have some money to buy some vitamins, protein powder, and epsom salts mentioned above?

I highly recommend you get as much of the things Vicourageous suggested. Get a good Protein Powder, I think that helped me the most. I used Spiru-tein(veg. base) then Muscle Milk(Milk base) for the whole detox. It will give you needed energy and nutrients to heal your natural brain chemistry. I will say that you are making a very good decision. If you can answer some of my questions, I will try to give more specific suggestions. Keep us posted.

I was on M'done for 20 yrs off 30+ of H. Do you have insurance that will cover detox & rehab? Also, can you give us a range of the dose(s) you're taking. I mean, I understand what you're saying when you say it depends on what your $$ situation is but a range would help to get a better read on where you're @ &we can work from there. Thanks!

Hi and Welcome..How many MG did you take for the last few weeks or days?? We have a few of us that had been on the Dones for years. I was on it for 12 yrs after I played the game to get it instead of Hydo/Oxys. I got myself down from a high dose to 30 mg and jumped the boat. I am no young chic and I was also buying Adderral off the streets to snort it with, Then I would take a Benzo at night..So I am just telling you this so you will know it can be done..Stick around here and we can help you if you want to be done NOW. We can share with you the things we used to help us get through the Detox and that we still use today. Right now you need to drink, drink and drink lots of water. Also get the electrolytes going..Start putting some Vit/Min in your system. Magnz is the greatest detoxer and also helps the brain balance back. Get some Epsom salt for baths. If your bones ache later get under a Heating blanket. We will just guide you step by step if you really want this..It takes alot of work but staying clean is the Hardest..You will need Support from the outside like meetings and Family, Church or whatever..I wish you the best and just let me know or any of us that have been through it..
