see above for great answers - just go through the WD. It *****, but swapping one pill for another isnt the answer. I'm on day 5 and physical mostly gone now...i'm going about my day, doing work, running errands, whatever. So there is light at the end of the tunnel... better to take care of your body than just swap out another drug, i tried that in the past and went back to the pain pills eventually.
hang in there, you can do it. We all can if we help each other.
Hello feelingpain....I'm on my fifth day of going cold turkey from a habit of 7 to 15 vicodin a day for three years. I have a 1 1/2 year old baby girl at home with me. For me, she kept me going. If not for her I probably would not have made it to this day, I think it is good that I had something to do that did require my full attention. I also have a son in middle school, he is thrteen...all I know is, I am a total wuss and I feel I've come pretty far.....you can too! You can you can you can! I think the fear of doing it outweighs the actual doing it-that's what kept me holding off so looooong. The fear of being sick is worse than being sick. Good luck!
Feelingpain,
I took suboxone for over 7 months. I would not recommend staying on it long. If you are going to use it, then use it for a very short period of time... like 2 weeks or less. Read around on the web and compare the withdrawals from those that have used it a long time vs. those that use it a very short period of time.
I don't know your hydro habit, but I would look into getting off of this instead of taking subs. Suboxone is so easy to take and STAY on in my opinion. Then, once you have been on it for a long time, the withdrawals are the worst hell ever. I have withdrawn from hydro, percs and suboxone and I have to tell you that hydro and percs were a cake walk compared to subs. Now this is just me, but I hope my opinion will warrant some research on your part before you jump right it. I jumped right into the subs like a fool!
The pain from my sub withdrawal put me in the mental hospital after I told my parents and husband I was going to commit suicide. Also, it took me a month before I was able to get a night of sleep. The first 6 days were excruciating pain. I have had gallstones, pancreatitis, surgeries and children and nothing has ever come close to the pain.
I certainly don't mean to scare the hell out of you, but think long and hard before you take subs and stay on it long.
God speed
Hi Vicki- Thanks for the help on OTC stuff. I am willing to try anything but if it gets too bad I will try the subs. I have taken the subs before and was able to get off the pills but then had sugery and was in the hospital for a week and given iv pain meds the whole time. Needless to say I went back to the pills after that. Now I am ready to live my life and not feel numb to everything. I want to remember my kids childhood! I will keep everyone posted on how i do. Thank you, Feelingpain
I tried suboxone for 6 days. I was on it for pain management but i had bad side effects i stopped taking it after 4 pills for 6 days. and had no problems
Feelingpain~ You can get symptomatic relief from Immodium,Cold medicine with DMX,
a good multi vitamin, extra C and extra B6 and 12. Melatonin for sleep and Hylands Restfull Legs for RLS. Force fluids;water and juices. Eat bananas and oranges. Protein drinks are excellent. Hot baths will be your best friend!
Carly~ When you took the Sub,I'm sure you had no withdrawals. That's what it does. But,I'm pretty sure you went right to the vicodin as soon as you could. So,if you do vicodin,Sub,vicodin...you won't have withdrawals;there is nothing to withdraw from.
Feelingpain~ Are you wanting to stay off the vicodin or are you looking for "a bridge" until your next prescription?
I have taken the suboxin before and when i have taken it i didn't take very much and then I know that your suppose to tapper off it to make the withdrawls less. I am willing to give anything a shot though. What are the OTC's that can help?
I just posted a few minutes ago to ask anyone's opinion of suboxone for pain control to stay off vicodin, but I have had some experience with it for withdrawal when I ran out of vicodin. I had no withdrawal symptoms at all with it, felt well enough to go about my day. When I ran out of vicodin without it I had all the withdrawal symptoms. So am glad you have it, hope you do OK.
I don't think this is the way to go. You will have wthdrawals fom the Sub,as well. So,you'll only be prolonging the inevitable.
There is no easy way out of wihdrawals. You just need to go through them sooner or later.
I don't know how many you take per day and for how long but that would determine the severity of your withdrawals.
Can you get someone to help with the children? Maybe for day 2 and 3?
There are many OTC's that can help you with withdrawals. We can help with that.
Let us know~
