It just sounds like hes substituting one for another then he could become addicted to Tramadol (i'm no expert but seen this in the forums)
It does hurt physically and mentally, its very hard, BUT, it can be done........done it myself.
Seriously, he needs to go ct before he ends with another addiction - the w/d get harder the more you prolong it and the incidence of relapse too.
Fingers crossed for you. Ask him what HE really wants and make a plan and stick to it! Determination is the key - he has to want it.
Keep posting, it does help, trust me
thank you.
he has said he wants to stop taking them nd he has not taken any since last wednesday but i am still worried th because he is now taking tramadol 100mg 5 a day so he dosent feel the pain as much.
I was taking these for about 4 years legit for back pain but decided as of 2010 i wanted to stop. 17th Dec I did just that. Cold Turkey. It was hard, flu symptoms, sickness, runs etc.
He seriously needs to cut his volume down as the amount of paracetamol hes taking is way too high - max is 8 tablets per day - 4g paracetamol-hes taking 12g - 3 x the safe dose.
There are tapering methods or cold turkey which is quite ok with codeine. There is the Thomas recipe that will help too.
The hardest part is him wanting to! He could be causing irriversible liver damage from the paracetamol.
Show him these formums, ask him if he wants to stop or keep on putting himself through this.
I am not a Dr but have withdrawn myself (never going back). Its hard but now I feel sooo alive.
Unfortunately you can not make him do it - he has to want to do it himself.
Keep posting, theres so much support here.
Fingers crossed x
