How long does the detox procedure for vicodin take on average?

I've been on vicodin (10 mg five per day )for over ten years.  For the past six weeks I've had low blood pressure (85 /60) accompanied by bouts of lightheadeness.  I've started cutting back taking four and one half pills per day.  After three days I will cut back to four then reduce by half a pill for three days and so on until I' down to zero.

I' read with great interest the posts regarding those facing the same situation or those individuals who've been able to detox.  Any and all feed back will be greatly appreciated.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

Hi and Welcome! Congrats on your decision to come clean. I was on the same Norco 10/325 for 5 years (8-10 a day) and Vicodin 5/500 (6-8 a day) for four years before that. I tried to taper many many times, but I had no success as I was not able to control it that much. If I had pain...I took a pill. Some people are able to taper and I wish you great luck with it!! I went CT (several times, more than I would like to admit) for the last time about 85 days ago, and it wasn't all that bad even at the dose I was at, which really wasn't even all that bad compared to alot of people. I used mine strictly for pain control, never recreationally. It takes about 7 days to get over the physical withdrawals, give or take. It took me about 5 with days 2 and 3 being worst for me, day 5 I noticed I felt better and by 10 days, I felt like I never took a pill, except still have a little low energy. After the physical comes the mental part and cravings though. Everyone here lives by aftercare! And a strong support system. Keep posting for support and good luck with the taper.
