You have shown striking diligence and I am in awe of that, Look how far you have come. One by one your burying the demons that hold us back inlife. Make alcohol your grand finale ! Check out the alcoholism forum for tips to ease the process. So proud you have stayed in the ring....your a winner. !!!
awesome job, keep up the good work. Is there a program in your area that you can attend?
hugs,
Lily
Happy to see you back Randy! You will always have support! Please be very careful about the alcohol! I would hate to see you caught in that horrible trap! Are you getting any additional support, like meetings or counseling? Please stay with us and take care!!
When you drink, do you drink until you're drunk? That's the question someone asked me. If I was out of pills, I would tell myself I was going to drink a little to take the edge off, and often times drank more than I had planned. I finally decided that I was compulsive with alcohol, especially when I was out of pills. I didn't drink every day and didn't always get drunk, but when asked if I ever drank more than I had planned, I had to say yes. Just be honest with yourself and keep striving for a life of progress. I don't have a problem with other people drinking, smoking weed, or even using opiates when they can keep control of it. I held onto that buzz with my dear life and almost lost it. You have been experienced, you will have to decide if you can control yourself. If you think you might have an overlooked problem, take a closer look. You have come a long way and are doing awesome. Based on your progress, I believe you will know what is right for you. Good luck.
How much alcohol are you consuming now? Your liver is really taking a beating Randy. Time to open your eyes and see where this is taking you.
Thanks Weaver. You make more sense then anyone I have talked to. It is clear... first for myself I need to quit secondly I ned need to quit for someone I care for very much who needs my clear head right now. I am scared of rehab but I think I can do this without rehab. I have been laid offf from the jod where my supplier worked and it is a very long drive to get anything. So alcohol and suboxone will be my main focuses right now. I want to get better for someone who really needs me and I made her a promise. Promises mean alot to me so I am committed.
Glad something struck home for you. I find that I struggle for months on some topic that I over think and then a friend asks a simple question. I see your posts and can tell you are genuine and caring. Even if you can control your alcohol for now, does it help you achieve what's important to you? I decided to give it up and stopping hasn't slowed me down a bit. Getting off subs is a whole different story. I can say they saved my life, but I used them for as short a time as I felt comfortable. Also, when the subs where gone, I found myself thinking of taking a drink again. I'm not sure, but I feel I would have started drinking more after subs if I had not stopped before I finished my subs. I admire you for helping someone and being motivated by it. I think service is the key to staying clean. You really seem to be on the right track. Good luck and keep us posted.
am seeing a social worker starting thursday. She should be able to help alot.
Thank you for the supoport. My friend needs mine and everyone elses support more than anytime. She has had to go through the worst. If she decides to share it is great, if not pray for a needy stranger regardless!!! Please. She has gone through the worst possible situation anyone could. I want her to be happy but she is in a rough situation right now. SO I guess I am asking for prayers for me and my close friend. Thanks-you
I pray for the addict who still suffers every day and I will pray for you to have the strength to handle the situation s-e-l-f-l-e-s-s-l-y. HA! I have to say that reaching out to others has done more for me staying sober than anything else in my program. When I listen to someone else I become less of a self-centered addict. Love conquers all, and I admire your empathy. Social workers have a lot of resources and usually experience. I'm glad to hear she has an appointment to get help.
