I can see clearly now..

I used to be "lostinhydroland" but I wanted a new name, and I got it! I am most definitely NOT lost in my addiction today. It's been 20 days and I feel so much better than even yesterday! I had coffee today! I haven't had coffee for almost a year. Stopped drinking it during active using, didn't need it. I medicated as soon as I woke up every morning...oh the mornings were the worst. It was torture waiting for the pills to get to my brain. I also got up and made my kids breakfast today! And I was in a god mood, and they rewarded me by eating everything I put in front of them.
I feel like I can function today, and I even feel a wee bit happy! We went puppy shopping today! lots of stops, lots of driving, NO meds. Last week I was terrified to leave my house. Today, no problem. Thank you to Claire for my new nickname and HUGE gratitude to all who post here. I read your posts several times a day and it gives me strength and hope. If you are new here, and maybe just starting to get clean, or thinking about jumping in, I can tell you that
the light at the end of the tunnel is fantastic!  I haven't felt this good in SO LONG! Who knows, I may feel crappy tomorrow, but I WILL TAKE TODAY!  I've had days when I thought I couldn't make it, but I would always postpone caving in.." I can make it one more hour." Then the feeling would pass and here I am.  I can see clearly now...

Congratulations on 20 days clean!.   You have that strong mental attitude that will see you through to 30, 60, & 90 days...and beyond.

Love the new moniker by the way.  Very positive and it suits you.

Well wishes....

Sandy

Thanks Iwill. You're doing great! I've been reading about your journey. Isn't
it fantastic that we can support one another on this forum? What a blessing that we all found it! There are quite a few of us in early recovery, posting and
sharing, staying clean each day, and we ARE ALL MIRACLES! Most addicts
never admit to themselves, let alone anyone else, that they are an addict. We are the lucky ones who hav somehow found a way out of the nightmare.
Stay with us! It is SO worth it. I'm having another good day today. You will
see that the longer you stay clean, the beter it gets.

I'm so happy you changed your name, we don't have to be defined by what we are now but what we hope to attain.  I'm on day 6 and not feeling so hot again today and your post gives me hope that real soon I'm going to wake up and be myself again, a better partner, not a lazy slob of a bag lady  sitting on the couch.  Thanks for posting and GREAT JOB.

thanks so much.  It feels so good to be functioning and able to take good care of my kids. I'm praying that this will last for a while. I know I'm not out of the woods, but I'm on the right path and I'm going to keep walking!
