detox question

What was recreational hydrocodone use has turned into an 80 to 100 mg daily addiction. Thinking about an outpatient rehab program. I've been abusing since last october daily so about 5 months or so. I've read about a 21 day rehab program or an 180 day. Due to my relativly short term addiction would anyone have any suggestions on what path to follow to get off these pills?

Thanks for asking vicki. I'm amost through day two. So far so good. I've been reading a lot and am starting to wonder how bad the withdrawls from the methadone will be once they start decreasing my dose. Any idears?

Its day 2 of my attempt at a 21 day detox. So far so good! It was a bit harder to get enrolled than I thought it would be. Thank you all for your responses and support!

I was close to the same situation. I took a little more than that daily and about 10 months longer than that. I quit cold Turkey am on day 31 today. You can do it at home but like the earlier post said you'll need at least 4-5 days to just be home detoxing. It's not fun but it is doable. Take as much advice as you can from these forums and just do it. Stay positive mentally, I think that is most important. Your mind is so powerful, it can help ya or destroy ya so be tough. I know you've heard it a billion times but one day(minute) at a time is so true during wds. I started feeling a little better every day after about a week. Sleep was the last thing to regulate for me. Took about 3 weeks to sleep somewhat normal. It will be just like a brutal flu. I wish you luck, and just remember no matter how bad ya feel it will get better. Hydro detox is not dangerous to do on your own in almost all cases. My heart felt like it was in my throat and gonna explode for a couple days. I was scared but it was ok. I feel so much better now and it is such a great feeling not thinking and planning everything around my norcos every f'in day. I promise you that. You lived most of your life without them you can live the rest without them too. Adios..

Your situation reminded me of my own situation three years ago....I was right on the edge of full blown additction and I turned to the dark side.....Soon my habit was dictated by my supply.  21 day inpatient would be ideal but if you prepare and get yourself familular with NA or AA you can do this on your own.....You are going to feel the effects of withdrawal but inpatient rehab will not take away the pains of withdrawal.  On the health pages (upper right) is the place where the Amino Therapy Protocol aritcle is located.....Read it and try and get yourself most if not all of the natural suppliments listed.  You will need to give yourself 4-7 days off if possible to detox at home.....It can be done and it will save you a bunch of money.  You will need however to have some meetings set up before hand so that once you are back on your feet you can attend.  Outside support for newbies is important...You are going to have a lot of questions and concerns which not everyone on this site can answer for you.....This site is one of the most important internet places that I have ever come across.....Think about the cold turkey method and be prepared and stay on this site.....The veterans and young detoxer's are here to help and walk you through the process.....You have to decide one thing though......ARE YOU REALLY DONE?  If you cannot answer that question then I would recommend the 21 day inpatient treatment.....I would have given anything to detox off of your habit vs. what I ended up doing!  Hang in there and good luck!

Hi there, recreational can turn into dependence quickly, you will find the taper doesnt work, at least it didnt for me.  The best way is just to quit, do you have any narcotics anonymous meetings around there, you can just go and google it, and put your city in, it will tell you times and places, there is alot of support there and find friends to help you.  Its for addicted people that need help, and what you say there stays there, i think it would be a good plan, you need some support to quit.  Its better than being chained to a bottle of pills, and you will have more money for fun things to do.  You havent been using long, so it should be easier than a long time addiction (like mine was)..Post on here for support also, hang in there, you can do it.

i personally ,after many attempts at tapering, went cold turkey, but anything that works for you , and gets you clean is good, does the 21 day program involve any other drug , i wouldnt be too keen on that, keep posting, best wishes,
