I need to quit this Vicodine/Norco addition. I'm new to the site. I would love feedback

Hello to all.  I have recently joined this site (literally yesterday).  I talked to dochollywood, kim and lesa.  Everyone here seems to know exactly the pain I am going through.  I need to detox.  I'm so scared.  I started with 750's from a suggestion of a friend of mine (who gave me her doctor) when I messed up my back from working out too much.  I am in shape and wanted to feel no pain.  My addiction then became worse when I realized my supposed friend across the way sold vicodine.......and the rest is history.  I know how much the doc's can prescribe, how often you can get it refilled and I use my neighbor and all her sources for the down time.  I have been on these pills for over 5 years.  I know I have a problem.  I have begun to realize that my memory is not as sharp as it used to be.  That is what is concerning me.......on top of all the tylenol (acetaminophine - sp?) that is killing my liver.  I have spent so much money on these F*****kng pills and am barely surviving now.  I am out of work, yet, I still need to feed my addition.  Enough is enough.  I need to have support.  I am too embarrassed to admit this to any friends or relatives.  No one knows how bad this is.......NO ONE - except this community.

Hey Doc,

No I have not quit.  Not yet.  It is still in the plan.  I absolutely promise you.  It has to been.  I don't have the money for this **** anymore.  I will not stop posting.  Trust me.  I am here to stay.  I will be here for the duration.  This site helps me so much.  It is great having the support I need.  I also need to get some more preparations.  I want to try to make this as painless as possible.  I need to read back through some of the postings on additional vitamins I need to get.  I will post again in a little why.  I'm here to stay doc......

How you doing Sirius?  Don't feel bad if you haven't quit yet.  Keep posting.  We want to hear from you.

I am past day 8.  I thought I would think of pills at the regular time intervals (I had a schedule) and I didn't.  So it's better.

Hang in there.  It's not you, these pills are addicting and some people are more prone than others.  No guilt.  No blame.  I don't believe that's fair.

Please take care.

They wanted to give me subaxne (sp?) but I refused.. It is hard to get off of.. I would rather the slow withdrawal from the norcos.. That's my opinion.. I just don't want you to get onto another very addictive drug.

xanax are addictive, in fact, you can go into convulsians if you stop taking them abruptly.  Just thought I would let you know.. They are physically addictive..

Hi Sirius. It is good to see you out here.. as said above You can do this. sub is not a very good option unless you have tried all other avenues to get clean with multiple relapses..and even then you have to have a plan coupled with counseling. It has it own wd that is much longer in duration then vics. It is also very expensive as is the Dr. and not all Dr's can prescribe. I understand the fear of wd nobody looks forward to being sick but on this last run of drugs for myself my life was so out of control I actually relished them like a trial by fire. It may sound strange but it was a cleansing period for me I was ready to try to live clean happy and a full life that I could actually feel. Please know I wish you well and hope you stay around for support Freedom really is awesome. Hearing the birds sing waking up stretching and yawning not dope sick Priceless.. lesa

Congrats on wanting off the ride!

i would really suggest NOT doing the subutex (sp?) as it also has opiates in it...i did end up taking a 1/4 of one on my day 2...but its easy to get addicted to that and the w/d is even harder. Since you're not working, maybe ct is best. just tough it out...it's like having the flu. I've been working thru mine, i am saving vaca time for Disney (wahoo!) and already have used up plently of sick days thru the year whenever my rx ran out (well before due for another one!).
I am presently taking L-Tyrosine (amino acid) and Vit B6...and occasional tylenol for aches. I cannot believe how much the amino acid and vitamins help! it's great. it also feels sooooooooooooo good to not have to take a pill to feel normal (the high wore off long ago).

Keep coming back and posting. this site gave me the courage to stop taking the pills to begin with and it's keeping me from taking them...

Hi Sirius.

Found your post.  I don't know anything about suboxone, but sounds like your habit was the same exactly as mine.  Today is day 8 for me and I'm going to go back to work and I feel good.  You are younger than me by 10 years and when you are younger, everything is easier.

I know you can do this when you are ready.  You don't have to be 100 percent mentally ready because that's nearly impossible.  It's just too scary dealing with the unknown, but last MONDAY was day 1 for me and it starts with day 1.

I will continue to be here for you and watch your posts.  I NEVER thought I could do it so I KNOW  that when you pick your day, you will do it.  It's a nasty flu.  Most times we don't have control over when we get sick.  People get cancer, infections, etc and they are not prepared.  Well this is better than that scenario because you can choose when to be sick and I promise it won't last forever.

Hang in there!

Thank you for your comments.  I have not tried suboxone.  Should I ask my doctor for that?  I'm afraid to ask him because I don't want him to know that I am addicted to vicodin in which he initially prescribed me.  I don't want him to know how bad off I am.  Have you quit?  Are you currently sober?  I do have xanax to help with the sleep.  I am confident I won't get hooked on the xanax because I really don't like taking them.  They make me so sleepy I can't even function.  And that is on one 5mg little pink football shaped one.  I actually took one about an hour ago and it is hitting me hard.  I will keep in touch with you and we will chat more tomorrow.  Until then.  Stay strong and thank you so much for you support.  You have no idea how much it means to me.

Hey detox is scary but it can be done without going to rehab. Have you ever tried suboxone? It's the only thing that works for me. Without it I could not detox. I have a serius oxy/heroin addiction and I shoot the ****! I badly want to stop n get my life back together too. It's been years since I've been sober. Something u can do that helps me to get some sleep is to get some OTC sleeping aid. There is nothing worse than being sick n not being able to sleep. Keep ur heAd up n know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm just like u in thAT my family has no clue about my addiction. I can't bear to tell them because I have alreAdy put them through so much
