doctors xanax taper ok or too fast??

Hey again, sorry to bug, AGAIN.. went to a different doctor~ background on this, I took .25-.5 mgs of xanax daily for 4 months and then during my vicodin taper/cold turkey went up to 2mgs daily for the last 2 months. been on it 6 months total. My doctor is going to taper me down to 1.5mg for a week, then 1mg for a week, then .5mg for a week and then stop. too fast? I'm scared, but I'm always scared...

It seems to me that they will be if needed, since I'm seeing her weekly and she said to call her if I have ANY problems. thanks again! :)

Yes you may need to do.25 a week and hopfully he will be willing if thats what you need

thanks avis for always responding to my panicky xanax posts...lol, I think I'll be ok, if not then I will be telling the doctor it needs to only be .25 mg a week not .5 mg. At least with this doctor I have an appointment once a week to check on me!!

Bob- I guess I'll just have to see how it goes, I start tomorrow on 1.5mgs instead of 2mgs so we'll see how it goes. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that also! what a pain, I also went cold turkey off a 5 year vicodin addiction that last 5 years, only 42 days clean from that. what a mess... good luck to you as well!!

In my opinion is a bit too fast, but maybe since you have used small doses and during short time it might be ok. I'm tapering off of Xanax also, but I was using 8 to 10mg a day more or less for more than 2 years and I'm currently at 6.75mg a day, tapering 0.25mg every 3 or 4 weeks, maybe every 2 weeks should be fine, but I'm also dealing with cold turkey from vicodin and tramadol and I don't want to stress much my body.

two mgs for 6 months is not alot so you may be OK. I would let him know if its too fast. Hopfully he will be willing to slow it down  if you need to .
