Interesting similarity...w/d & Soberiety

Today I was driving and the thought occurred to me that w/d is actually pretty close to birth in the sense that we, as woman, go though hours/days of labor to give birth to the greatest joy in our lives. W/d is like this; you go thru so much pain, but in the end it’s all so very worth it. When you’re going thru it you just can’t imagine anything being worth the pain you feel, but when it’s over you think 'WOW. This is amazing!!'
This also leads me to another thought (wow, 2 consecutive thoughts) We need to be careful. Like labor, we forget the pain after a while. We might talk about it to family/friends for a few days/weeks afterwards, but you do forget.
I think this is what AA calls keeping it green? Anyway, the posts from all the folks just starting out have helped me keep it green. So thanks to all you newbies. You help us too! You guys can do this just like the rest of us!
Keep posting.

That's a great way to look at it even though I can't relate to child birth. I have thought in the past about a few missions while serving in Iraq that it was in a way related. A few of those missions we would have to go and rescue a fellow platoon of Marines that were in trouble. It was a few days of intense fighting and he!! on earth or so it seemed. But to get in there, rescue them, and get back safely to base was an amazing feeling. It was a natural high. It was worth every second of it. So in a way I can compare it to withdrawals I guess. I'm sure we all have our own ways of relating. So although I can't relate to child birth, I can relate to the feeling.
Keep going strong! You are doing great!
