Started Sub today! explain this thread stuff.

Hey all I have written 3 post tonight and before I ever get it posted  I lose it. So this time short to the point. I started my suboxone today and dang I am really feeling better, but I have noticed I have a mild buzz I hope it is gone by tomorrow because this is defeating the purpose. I think I am having some side effects and would like to know if anyone taking suboxone has had them.
I am itching all over, but do not have a rash. I am also a little nausea, and did vomit after my 2nd and 3rd dose. I had not ate all day so I  ate before the last dose and did not get sick. I am assuming I should probably eat something before taking. I am also having those cold clammy sweats. I hope it ends at that and not progress on into something bigger. I am taking 8mg x2 so 16 mg a day. I would like to hear from anyone who has had any side effects. Should I expect more effects or do you think they will pass. OH my I almost said that dreaded phrase others have said to me at NA ( this to will pass). LOL

I am not sure if I should start a new question or use my first original thread? I am getting better navigating this site but some one left me notes or something and I saw them then lost them and now cannot find it again. This crazy old lady is not capable sometimes.

I want to thank everyone that has been here to listen to me blow off steam and answer all my questions no matter how dumb they were. I know I went to doc today more educated and knowing questions that I wanted answers for. I had an idea of what to expect. The one BIG THING I was shocked at was they did not ask me for my family docs name. The Sub doc was using a walker and a cane and was also hard of hearing. I had to scream out my all my answers plus scream the ?'s too.The office smelled like moth balls. The office was not set up to use a credit card machine and I had to pay 200 bucks up from and another 125 bucks in 2 weeks. Is it possible to switch doctors to another clinic in another town or city?  I am sure I would only have to pay my deductible of 25 bucks. and maybe be billed another 25 after insurance pays. It is expensive and he was the only doc that could get me in. Most said they already had 30 patients and could not accept another. I am thinking the DEA might think I am doc hopping. I am call some places and see what I can work out. The script is $109 and the months visit is $125, plus he gave me sleep aid call lunesta.

Well short got long sorry would appreciate any feed back I can get. Prayers and hugs to all of good people.

Hi Janet,

Glad that you are on the mend.  Give yourself a few days to adjust to the sub.  While sub is an opiate, it is a partial agonist, so the buzz you are feeling should go away within a day or so.  The other side effects should also adjust quickly.  You mentioned not having anything to eat.  You don't want to eat before you take the sub, but do eat - that would help the nausea and issues like that.  I started on a much larger dose, but quickly worked down to 16, then 8, then 4.  You mentioned dosing 16mg/day - are you taking this all at one time or in two doses?  I can't give you dose recommendations, but sub is designed for dosing once per day - taking in two separate doses can also cause some of the side effects.  My doc told me to take a night dose once in a while if I felt I needed it and any time I did that, I always had a really hard time sleeping.  Be patient and take it one day at a time.  You will also want to feel comfortable with your doc - so if you feel you need to change docs, don't hesitate.  I also wanted to comments on the 30 patient limit - several years ago this was changed to 100, but the doc has to file to get the additional patients.  Keep moving forward and keep posting.

Hey guys I just started the suboxone today. I have heard that you might feel a little buzzed for first few days. I had not ate anything before i took my first 2 mg and same with 2nd  2 mg dose. But I did not feel sick after I ate when I took the last note. I have made majors changes with medication the past 2 weeks getting of all benzo's and anti-depressant that could not be used with Sub. I am going to wait a few days and see if any of it goes away. I know that I felt better today then I have in forever. I ate it up was outside playing with granddaughter. I had a blast. Sure beats being on here all day and in front of the TV. GL cutting back.

I too started the Suboxone at 8mg a day only thing I felt was the cold clammy sweats but they are subsiding. I think you are on to high of a dose, I dont know how much you used (DOC) or for how long but this is also a factor in what your dose will be in the induction phase! ask your doctor if you can go down in your dose and see how that feels!!

Even I think 8mg is high for me and find I have been sleeping all day with no motivation
I am going to ask to go down in my dose when I see my doc on Thursday. I feel great otherwise and have not had the urge to use once since starting. When I started I was given 4mg and felt better after that so i am thinking 8mg is a bit high for me but we all know or own bodies and how they should feel. Suboxone should only make you feel better from WD nothing more. If you feel a little buzzed or nausea's you are on to high a dose. in my opinion nothing more I am not a doctor. talk to your doctor and see what he say's

hi and welcome
Sounds like you are getting the hang of this board. I don't know if this has anything to do with your problems, but I noticed that the website was down for maintenance. Anyway your above post made it through!
Not familiar with sub, but many here are so lets see what they have to say.
if you are uncomfortable with this first doctor (weird office, communications issues) I would switch to another doctor.
Good for you going for HEALTH. We've all been through HELL and now we just want HEALTH. :>
hugs,
Lindsay
