Pain killers and withdrawals

I broke my wrist 4 months ago and have been taking Vicodin and Percocet since.

I also have a fractured spine, so this is not my first expirience this pain medicine.

I am still in alot of pain, but decided that i am done with the pain killers. There has to be another way to deal with the pain. I don't want to be addicted to Vicodin. My doctor wanted to put me on sleeping meds, but i refused.

I am in a VERY hard spot right now. These withdrawals are absolutely horrible. I am sweating, depressed and in pain, but i dont wanna give up.

I havent taken them in 2 days now... How long are these symptoms going to last?

3-4 days for most, a week at the outside but alot depends on what, how much and how long u were using.  4 months is not a long time so u shouldnt have too much trouble, but i see u had issues before so mentally, it could be tougher than physically
Seek support and hang tight..u can do this

You are doing the right thing......There are other alternatives to narcotic pain relievers....They are not as good but definitely help.  Unfortunately we are all either in the beginning edge or out addiction or at the end.  With you usage I do not think you will suffer long....Dav125 is correct that the first week is rough but you will start feeling a lot better after that.  You truly need to tell yourself that you are done with the pills forever....You do not want to end up like a lot of us that had elavated our addictions to insane amounts and every minute of every day usage.  It is so much more difficult to detox from a bad habbit vs. what you are going to go through at your current usage.  There is a lot of good advice here with the use of water, vitamins, suppliments, and good food and some mild exercise.  Good luck and God bless!

For another day or two, not much will change, Then these hard physical symptoms will back off but you will then be dealing with anxiuosness, sleep issues and depressed thoughts to a certain degree. Just move thru the days .Do whatever it takes to not focus on the symptoms and keep your mind occupied in other things as best you can..Walks are good, showers, watching movies, anything to focus elsewhere. It will take a couple weeks for you to really feel yourself coming out of the cloud..Just stand strong and get there. Once there, you will know "and feel" you made a very wise decision. Right now is the worst. If stomach is bothering you, get some immodium now. And gator ade. Drink plenty of fluids..
