I need help and support

I never even knew there was anything like this forum..God knew what I needed..I have been reading your posts for over a week now.  A lot of my questions are being answered but I believe a support system is the only way for me to get my life back.  I can go from 3 perc's, vicodone ES's, or what ever I can get to 20 a day.  I often will put them up my nose which is so addicting.  I am so embarressed and ashamed.  I have been doing this for a good 4 years now.  I have pretty much spent the last two years in my room when I"m off work.  I have a lot of shoulder pain which started this mess and some bad influences in my life.  I know I have an addictive personality.  I went to N/A 25 years ago.  I drank a lot up to about 4 years ago...switched to pills.  I went c/t jan 1st this year...lasted 5 days.  I went through all that for nothing. I'm thinking about tapering just not quite sure how to go about that fully. I want my life back

hey there, you've made a wise choice, now you gotta stop spiking, the sniffing is no good. which ever route you take to quit, you have to stop sniffing now. try like a few days first, you gotta stop getting that rush.when your useto sniffing them its hard not to, but its the first step to take. be strong you can do it! Welcome to the right place to learn to retake control of your life. One option you may have since you said your husband is supportive would be a medical detox where you can be observed and helped through the w/d. C/t seems to work for some, tapering for others. Like they said read and educate yourself, make a plan and execute it.
Good luck and God bless.

Welcome to the forum!
Yes, you could use those Suboxone pills to help alittle thru the first few days of withdrawels.  You must be in withdrawels before taking the Sub or you'll get extremely sick. So you could take your first dose about 16-24 hours after your last pain pill. Start by breaking those pills into 2 mgs.
Your first dose should be 2 mgs. Wait an hour, then take another 2 mgs, wait another hour, then 2mgs more.
The Suboxone is sublingual. Put it under your tongue. Don't drink, smoke or talk for at least 10 mintues, or until it's completely disolved. (look in mirror)
Day 1.....8 mgs
day 2......8 mgs
day 3......6 mgs
day 4......4 mgs
day 5......4 mgs
day 6......2 mgs
You are still going to experiance some withdrawels, but the Sub should lighten it up.  Good luck and PM me if you have any other questions.

So, you think we're a bunch of druggies here? How appalling! Welcome to this forum. There's much support to be had here. Like mimi said, tapering can be done, I did it too. The biggie with that route is, you better Want to quit. I was using from 8 to 10  10mg hydros daily, and started cutting the dose in half every day. I'm not advising you do that. My point is simple that a taper can be done. I've heard many good things about the Suboxone, but have no personal experience. However you approach it, the hard fact is that everyone has to quit sometime, and the sooner the better. Many people have lost all over the fear of quitting. Stay with us, you'll make it...If you want to.

Thank you so much,  showing you care made me cry...No one in the house knows I am taking as much as I am.  My husband works out of town.   I did tell him in Jan. I was getting off my perc's. and he was supportive those five days of hell.  I have been thinking about doing this again for awhile.  I even bought 4  8mg suboxen from someone I know.  In fact thats how I found this forum.  I was finding out how to use them.  I take other meds..remeron and mirapex and was searching to see if I could take them with the suboxen.

Welcome.  Many above have given you good advice, and many more wonderful people will follow.

Please keep reading, as you have.  Check all options: cold turkey again, tapering, suboxone.  Absorb the information, ask additional questions, and make informed decisions not only as to what you will do, but how you will do it (i.e., a plan).  The plan MUST include after care, i.e. the mental withdrawals.  Then execute your plan, visiting here OFTEN for support and additional guidance.

I think you know, it won't be easy, but a wonderful life without pills awaits you, yes, YOU!
Others have done it, and you can too.  We need yet one more success story, and we want it to be yours!

My prayers are for you!

You can do this if you want.  You can even do it CT but you will be uncomfortable.  I took 6-8-9 7.5 percocets daily and vicodin on and off for 10 years.  The last 4 years being the worst.  I was buying them on the street inbetween my rx's.  I've spent thousands of $ and spent most of my time counting and figuring the amount of pills I had and if I could make it through the day. I don't remember ever going more than a day and 1/2 with out them.  I'm on day 14 today.  The w/d's were not pleasent but I'm on the other side of that now and I'm releived not to feel too bad physically.  Of course the mental side, e.g. cravings, triggers, etc. is another story.  But coming here and reading all of the posts and posting occasionally REALLY helps.  You will find so many people you can relate to.  You will realize you are not alone.  There's even someone here who can probably tell "your story" to a tee and you will be given hope, encouragement, and--the truth when you need it.

Best of luck to you.  Keep checking in.

Blessings, Rue

As SunnyOne said, tapering is hard but I did it successfully. And Suboxone is an option as well.

If you want to taper, I would suggest cutting back by one pill per week. It is slow and you will still have mild wd's but not as bad as ct. When you down to 2 or 3 pills per day start cutting them in half. The last week try to take 1/2 pill per day. It will be difficult, I had trouble with it, but it can be done.

Good luck and keep posting. There are many options.

Welcome.  Tapering is possible, but you will need to know that you are done getting high on taper day 1. The taper is only intended for minimizing the w/d's.  Do you think you can do that? If yes, let the group know how much med. you have now and they can suggest a great plan to ween you off the drugs and lessen your w/d's.

There are a lot of others here just like you. Stick around and keep chatting. Everyone wants to help because we understand the powerlessness of your situation.
