i think the first few times you take it, the side effects are very noticeable. after a few days it seems to ease up a little.the first time i took clonidine treatment for heroin detox i hated it- dry mouth, dizzy on standing, foggy brain etc.
but this time, 9 years later, i'm finding it ok. still dry mouth, but not too much dizziness. makes me a bit tired but i see that as a good thing- anything to help me get drowsy is ok by me. and it sure helps the chills.
i think there must be a flip side to everything, clonidine helps with skin crawls, but gives dry mouth etc....
if the side effects are really bad, go to doctor and get checked, it might not be the right treatment for you. though the things you mention are quite normal, and do seem to ease up the longer you take it. well, that's for me anyway.
best of luck.

I took .1mg 3x/day and it turned me into a zombie...felt like I was walking in quicksand and my brain had be turned down fom a "10" to about 2..was dry mouthed all the time and fell asleep in some strange times/places...

Keep a bag of hard candies around to help with the dry mouth or even look for artificial saliva at your pharmacy (otc)...

and just rest...take time off work if you can...don't get up out of a chair/couch very fast...ultimately you'll et somewhat used to it.  I took it for a little over a month.

Hey Bulldog,   I'm proud of you man --- I have been monitoring your posts and I believe that you will make this --- you really want it badly and have a wife that will SEE the difference in her man when this is over.  Please Bulldog, hang in there ---  everyone has told you the truth -- it may get worst before it gets better --  but we have all been where you are - -- you will live and then look back on this as probably the single hardest thing you ever did --- but OMG, what a difference in your life this is going to make  -- hold onto that and 'bite the bullet'   We are all pulling for you.  All the best.

I was taking it 3 times a day and it made me feel like a zombie. It was in pill form and my dostor said that would cause high and low spikes of the meds working in your body. I was changed to a higher dose, but changed to a patch and I no longer feel like a zombie. Good luck AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU IN JESUS NAME A-MEN!!!

Have you been able to check your b.p? you might try breaking the pill in half and see if that helps...If you start feeling the w/d's kick in you will still be able to take the other half. I have been on .2 mlg 3 times a day and it took me about a month to finally adjust to it. I was actually on .3 mlg 3 times a day for about 6 months and my b.p was still running 190/130...(because of my high pill consumption) I didn't even know Clonidine could help with w/d's until I ran out one time and I had been on the Clonidine for about 8 months and I couldn't figure out why in the world I was barely having w/d's...What you have been feeling is pretty normal side effects from the med. Just to be safe you need to check you b.p a couple of times a day for the first couple of days.

Clonidine will make you very tired. What is the mg. you are taking. It may be to much..It is a very strong b.p med. It also can drop your pulse rate. Just moniter your p.b. You may need to break the pills in half. When I first started taking it I would be in the middle of a sentence and fall asleep. It ticked my husband off so bad..lol..Message me if you have any other questions about it I have been taking it for a long time now. I hope you feel better soon.
