Methadone taper update

I go down from 20 to 15 mg tomorrow. No wds...when i began, the clinic dr told me i could have a max of 2 drinks per day, and not to drive. They just changed from oral swab testing to urine tests. Once they did this, i tested positive for alcohol. My first "dirty" test in almost a year. They are penalizing me one "take-home."man this is making me want to drop my dose and get off this stuff ASAP! So ready to stop having to dose all the time!!!

I cannot believe that a doctor prescribing something for ADDICTION is advocating alcohol. WTF? The whole point about being an addict is that we cannot handle any mind altering substances. I hope you get off that crap asap and get into recovery.

3rd day on 15mg.... no issues.. mayyybeee a little nervous.. but normal. Welbutrin and Triliptal may be doing the trick! Pls keep good thoughts for me

Lowered to 15 this morning-so far, so good. Think welbutrin is really helping my urges...and my therapist prescribed Trileptal yesterday-anyone heard of it?

STILL havent been lowered to 15!! I asked my counselor why-she dodnt know and would check on it before i go tomorrow. Evidently has to do with when the pharmacist comes... cant wait to get off this stuff-it is controlling my life... this going every other day before i teach *****..

How are you doing today? I too am on wellbutin and it helped me through my taper.  You sound like your doing good and have a plan in place for yourself. Keep posting your journey........peace

So no recovery program then?  Can you go to a different town?  Are their therapists close by?

Im just trying to do one thing at a time. Right now yaper and get off methadone. I think ive broken my pill cycle. Taper off my few glasses of wine (that ive done for 25 + years....) then maybe stop smoking. I teach in a small town... im limited.

Oh.... and i started welbutrin last week. I am hopeful

Soulscapex said it: you need to learn to live w/o any substances. Why on earth would a heroin addict be given the okay to drink at all. We are addicts. We use any substance to not deal w/ life.  What are you doing for recovery?

The state "home office" for Crossroads is the one who buckled down on this. The dr told me at my intake appt not to have more than 2 and at that-not to drive. The counselor there apologized and acknowledged they had not been clear

I would not suggest skipping days you might end up making this harder for yourself, and as for the drinking i would highly suggest stopping that, you dont want to get kicked out of the clinic , cause they can do that. Ive seen people get kicked out many times , they will stick you in a rapid detox and by no means does this help the person. To end the addiction you must throw yourself to the mercy of the process of getting clean, and that includes having a few drinks. You have to learn to deal with lifes issues without a substance. They tell me they only drop you if you miss 7days... but they also told me 2 drinks were ok...

Clinics do as they please, dirty test ,missing groups, there is lots of reasons they can discharge you, Ive seen it many times. Just a heads up. Every clinic is different, but when it boils down to the end. Its there call, they already took a bottle away , im sure if you keep coming up dirty. they will take the next step.

This all sounds a bit crazy.  If the doctor says drinking a couple is fine then why are you losing a take home?  How much are you actually drinking?  You are messing with fire here.  Time to buckle down and figure this out.

Stopping at even 15mg ur gonna go through withdrawals. Also most places if u don't go on constant basis they will drop u. Try having a drink the day u were tested n hope it's out ur system by next test. I think u were miss informed as per state policy if u r in a drug program u cannot use illicit drugs or alcohol unless prescribed by a physician

Thank u! No issues at all... they told me friday the drop doesnt takr effect tol tomorrow-im thinkimg o may go every other day... see how that goes as i taper... i CANNOT go to that place every day!!!

Ummm.....did I read correctly that you still drink? Your methadone doctor told you you could drink?

Sure did. "No more than 2 and dont drive or you will blow a breathalyzer test." I would have never gone down this road if i couldnt have a drink.... yes, i know how it sounds.
