Thank you to all our veterans who have served. You have my deepest respect~
Great post, Sarah!...wishing everyone a safe & Happy Memorial Day! Thanks to all r armed forces for the freedom we have!...special thanks to my husband who served in the Special Forces in Iraq...love u baby! <3
Happy Memorial Day to everyone! I hope it's a fun, safe, and sober holiday for all. A big thank you to all of the men and women in the armed services, and to all of the veterans out there.
Our local grocery store has a "operation roundup" type thing. If your bill would be 15.01 they ask if you would like to round up to the next dollar. The extra money is given to the vets. This is the 2nd time they have done this and it is a huge success.
motye, you are so right in what you wrote. Hopefully they will find us and then find their way~
Dont forget to take off your cap and place your hand over your heart when the flag goes by~
Hey everyone this holiday has special meaning to me it was the first holiday I spent with my friend getting loaded I was 14 and did not have a care in the world it was a double keger and every drug imaginable for me it was a new freedom I finely felt like I fit in what a deception how was I to know this was going to be the beginning of a 35yr addiction that almost cost me my life it all started with one big party and 35yrs later it was me alone with a bottle of pills no party to be found I look back and see all the mayhem and destruction today we missed the true meaning of this Holiday it is to celebrate our armed forces and all the veterans and those that gave there life... my uncle end dyed landing si pan in the Philippians he took a bullet to the head and died a week b/4 his 18th birthday he lyed about his age to get in the marines my dad flew a b/17 over Europe my uncle bud was a tall gunner on a b/17 both survived the war this holiday is bitter sweet I was told my grand father never recovered from uncle ed's death ...freedom is any thing but free so lets all stay clean and remember those that have and are fighting for are freedom by not using.............Gnarly
I like that...."Guard Up!" and I agree. I shared that at my Friday night meeting. This weekend does have a lot of functions that include drinking for me and I was a little worried. I've had texts from people in N/A checking on me which, just to see their text, makes me feel better.
You know what I also think about regarding Memorial Day....is how many of our men/women are suffering with the same problem of addiction as we are! How many of these kids are "self-medicating" b/c of PTSD and trauma? I was and am NOT against the war in Iraq and Afganistan, however, I do believe we're going to have a another whole generation of addicts....I'm reminded of this when I see the ******** regarding the VA hospital!
Beautiful sentiments everyone...I'm thankful and proud of our hard won freedom and this great country! God bless-
Bump!
Where is Everyone?? Out having a BBQ! God Bless America!
Thank you, Sara~
I think it would be much too easy for me to take for granted the freedoms we are blessed with if I didn't have family members serving. When one of them is your sister's oldest son serving in Afghanistan and now training in Special Forces....it makes it truly personal for me.
Another memory that comes to mind is being out of our wonderful country on 9/11. I was actually in Italy the day the towers came down. And then we were told for days we could not fly "home". When we FINALLY DID get to come back to the US of A......as we heard those jets wheels come down and land on US soil.....you would not believe the cheering, the clapping, the crying from all us passengers that went on when we finally landed! I had goose bumps all over my body and silent tears running down my face. It's much too easy to get disgruntled with all the "things" wrong here in the US......but once you go somewhere else......returning HOME is beyond words~ I am proud to be an American....and I am SO proud of all the men and women that fight to keep me "free".
God Bless the USA~~
Lovely post Sarah- I am in Canada so our long weekend was last weekend. Much love to all for a safe, happy, sober weekend. xo

I am home relaxing and enjoying every minute of it! God bless our military and our veterans past and present!
Everybody stay safe and SOBER!
I want to think each and everyone of them for their time they served. In return I do have the Freedom of choice.
