My Dilema and Aftercare
This forum can get a bit sad at times, and if y'all will bare with me , I'll tell you about my current situation.. I was thinking about aftercare and the great advice that we need it, and I agree,,, but this is my problem, I live in a place where most have never seen or want too........ Here we have AA. Ours is Active Alcoholics/Meth Lab/No RX required pharmacy.... We do have a Wal Mart, 50 Dollar Stores, which double as pill pick up and drop off, can't go to those meetings, anymore!
We also have a counseling group, who gives everyone Xanax and gets them on SSI, sorry not a nerve pill girl, or live on $600.00 a mo.
I could drive to the big city 2 1/2 hrs one way, but that's out, they have a Mall and a Target, and I'd have to shop, but I can't,,,,, cause I'm broke, from all the pill buying at the Dollar Store.:(
My last option, start my own group, the voice of reason kicked in, and told me.. All the drug dealers would find out where we were, call us pathetic losers, have a two for one sale, talk us right back into using,,, again!!
That's plum out of the question!

For those of you wondering, I do have all my teeth, wear shoes and I'm not married to my dad, uncle, brother or cousin.
Life is wonderfully great sober, even here.... So when you get all down and depressed and think. "LORD! I can't go the Burger King without my pill, think of me,, at least you have a BK!!!" :)

We had a shot at the natl championship in football this year, but choked. Typical. We actually did win the basketball natl champ in 94 and went back in 95 but lost to Duke. Blah. I'm not a fan of TN.
I don't know the Duggars except what I see on tv. They're in northern Arkansas. I'm more south. I'm nothing like them. Neither is most of the state, thankfully.

I promise you. There's no meetings closer than an hour from where I live. I've been here 35 years. I've also recently looked. With a 40 hour week job and a toddler, that's not feasible. We have to drive 25 miles to the closest Wal-Mart.
Ha!Ha! Where could I go? that people could understand, my dialect, we have our own language here...we'll throw 3 or 4 words together, cause we're too lazy to pronounce each word apart,,, no one else could understand!! When we go outta state, people always ask me to say different words, so they can get a thrill!
We have dollar stores, red lights and a wal mart... And all kinds of AA meetings that go on 24/7!!! And more drug dealers, than Obama has care! I am in a forgotten land... Might have seen it on Feed the Children (don't waste your money, they don't get it.)
Maybe we do got a legg up on you! We got lots of lights, they just don't take you anywhere.
Then you have us for now. We're a little nuts but we mean well...

We got 1 funeral home,, y'all are fancier than us! Lol, but I got something you don't some really weird, neighbors..they are not your typical drug dealers,, they are just weird and down right scary looking!
There's no AA or NA or therapists in my 1,900 people town, either, but hey. We have 2 dollar stores and 2 funeral homes! Lol
If I can, with all the obstacles and hoops I have to jump thru daily, multiple times.. Drive by, can't go outside and all I see are my neighbors, passing out who knows what... And believe it or not, i live in a swanky neighborhood, the neighbors devalue our property.:)
Your post is very beneficial because you are not making excuses with regards to your situation and are, in fact, making the point about life being great without pills. We do push after care a lot on this forum because most who show up here do have access to after care. Thanks for your positive outlook.
This Is NOT Little House,, but as I said before it's home.... Actually the ones who don't overdose first,.... die of boredom... Seriously it is an epidemic!! I live in a.in a row of homes maybe 15 houses, and I am sandwiched right in between two drug houses, one I can throw a rock and the other maybe 1500 ft from me... I just try to find humor in all things.
oh! Now you got re-runs of little house in the prairie running through my head. LOL! This forum has helped me the most, so i guess just do what you can. Whatever works for you is what counts.
does your church have any addiction, recovery groups? Maybe you could start one there? Keep up the great work & humor:)
