A little confused about w/d right now. Help?

So i was tapering my xanex this week. I was at .5 a day, which i split in half and took .25 twice a day to equal the .5. Then yesterday I only took one half so i only took .25 yesterday. I was able to eat...not a whole lot but more than usual and i fell asleep on my own. I still woke up way too early, but i was doing that even when i was taking the xanax. Im still incredibly anxious but is this all a good sign? Ive never withdrawn frrom anything before so i dont know what to expect and does this mean that my dependence is not as bad? Any help/advice/opinions would be great.

And by nothing is wrong I mean taking a prescribed pill that's supposed to be helping you.

I was majoring in it but as I had to drop out to deal with my addiction I didn't get to learn as much as I wanted about withdrawals. Its also hard to believe you're going through it when you think nothing is wrong.

i agree with your comment about our health care system , sometimes the things that happen with patient \ doctor relations.are discombobiling:}...and this problem is everywhere...as i see you were majoring in drug counseling however you didnt really know what to expect from withdrawals etc.....this should have been the first thing they teach ya is the physical\mental changes that happen with addiction and withdrawals...so  my suggestion is to keep doing what you are doing with learnig as much as you can about your situation....good luck

Just FYI...the awful doctor i talked to wont help me out with the tapering. He is convinced that i need to stay on the xanax because im getting such bad anxiety while i taper. I think its absolute BS. The anxiety is the withdrawals! Im so frustrated! Thank God i am going to a drug rehab on wednesday. How can doctors do this to people??? Its absolutely outrageous. I refuse to have my script refilled. I am just so mad right now. I had to vent.

I think your anxiety is just the idea of not having the xanax as a kind of "crutch".  Like we said yesterday, do not over think this.   And I agree, you need a counselor so you can get the tools to deal with your anxiety and have someone to talk to.  Exercise always helps me as stated above too.   When I feel like I am going to explode from anxiety I  go running, swimming, gym or ride my bike.  You are doing great.  :)

I had to take my half earlier than I wanted to today. I had to work and got incredibly anxious about it. I'm hoping the .25 a day will start being ok for me so I can finally stop this evil drug. I hate it. I'm feeling positive after yesterday though. Just wasn't sure what I should be expecting through all of this.

Just continue tapering as you were advised by the doctor....Your dose was very small...
Get some help with the anxiety...Exercise is a HUGE help!

Good luck~~

Hi!  From what I have read from your posts you were not on a high dose and not for a long time.  You will be fine!!  Don't worry yourself into a frenzy, ok?  Just do what you're doing and go about your daily life as you would any other time.   Don't over think this, or you will just get more anxious, ok?
