i appreciate ur guys advice and yes i know im lucky compared to those who have been abuse n pain killers for a long time..but i have an addictive personality and i have to be careful not to replace my addiction...im so glad i found this site thank u VERY much!!
I have to respectfully disagree with the first response to this post...I would most definitely NOT do SUBOXONE for a 3 month habit, especially since she was only taking the pills every day for the last 1 month. She is very lucky she has not been using long at all yet, and since it only became a daily thing within the last month, it would be insane to jump onto the Sub !! Sub is only for very severe cases (again, IMO), for people who have tried and tried to quit and just cant or who are taking so many a day that their liver is in emminent danger of failing due to aceto/tylenol overdosage.
Angel- read as many posts as you can here and educate yourself. There are tons of posts regarding vicodin/hydrocodone which is apparently the most widely abused drug out there (I was on it too , for years). Read up on WD's, the Thomas recipe and also there is just so much general support and advice on this board that is invaluable!
You should be able to get through this pretty well unscathed since you havent been on that long. Yes, you may feel like total crapp for 3-5 days or so but lucky for you, your brain chemistry is not likely to be totally out of whack yet and you wont be at as high a risk for a relapse as some of us who used for years and years... good luck to you and keep us posted.
PS if you havent gotten this stuff yet for the WD-s a basic list of things to have would be Immodium or Pepto for the diarrhea that will come (and also maybe Gas-X if you get the bad stomach pains along with the diarrhea), some regular tylenol or motrin/advil for the body pains and possibly a sleep aid. If you want a more in depth arsenol, you can check out the Thomas recipe too..
PSS more_fiend---- i wasnt trying to hack on you or your response I understand you are trying to help her as well, i hope i didnt offend you. I just dont think that going on SUB is a good idea in this case!
congrats on taking the first step!! I am glad that you realized early that you were having issues with the medication and understand that it will get better. I have found with my twitching and muscles spasms one thing that helped was either a heating pad or cold patches on the effected area. I had terrible leg twitches and couldn't get any sleep so I put a lidocaine patch on and they finally stopped. Also to help me sleep I used benedryl. If you want to try detox with a doctor there are many, just look them up under outpatient opiate treatment. You will have to start detoxing first then the doctor will treat you in the office with suboxone initially. They will then give you a script for the medication. The suboxone helps tremendously with the withdrawals and then you can focus on what caused you to start taking them in the first place. Just do a google search of suboxone doctors in your area and give them a call. I know it can be hard to take that first step but just think about how much better you will feel once the withdrawals have gone. You will be able to live again and not worry about your next high or how much it will take to get you there. Good luck! I am here for you.
