if you take high dose neurontin for onlyn a week or so will withdrawal be severe?

taking 2000 to 2400 mg per day for the last week to 9 days for alcohol and opiate withdrawal ...feel fine but now I read these posts and I am very concerned ...going to begin tapering now but there aint a whole lot left...if I only bolused it for 7-9 days and now I taper ....am I in for a bad withdrawal scenario?

Your right...one week really isn't a long time to take that particular med, But the mg amount might counter the short length of time?? You know what I mean?  

I personally find that the more we try to ease the pain of w/d, the harder it is to stay clean. But again, this is my opinion.  I physically felt like **** for over 40 days....but everytime I start to think about dope, I remember literally locking myself in my room for 40 days detoxing, laying on the floor in a ball, punching my bedroom walls, screaming into my pillows, and it brings me back to reality!  :)  I'm sorry if it came across as assuming you were taking the easy way out...I didn't mean it like that. No one likes pain, I get it, but you will find many threads on this site in regards to neurontin and the hell it comes with so I'm not sure you did yourself any favors is what I'm saying.  There comes a point when we just have to stop putting ANYTHING in our system to feel different and let our own body chemistry work itself out.....you know what i mean?  I've seen people coming off of Lyrica at my N/A mtgs.....and it's NOT PRETTY!  

Perhaps not a LONG w/d period, but I would think there would be symptoms coming off the neurontin.  Tiredness, lack of energy, possible stomach issues, etc.... how long, I don't know though.

If I've read correctly, that does seem like a high dose....for every ailment that neurontin covers, the dose your taking is too high.  I understand it's purpose for the alcohol withdrawals (because it helps to prevent seizures) but not for the hydro's.  I am going to assume your not taking this under a doctors supervision, and I would recommend you call your dr for a taper schedule because we're not dr's and we're not allowed to give taper information.

I do know that neurontin (gabapertin) comes with it's own w/d's and it's own demons.  You've kind of put yourself in a trick bag.....you've used an addictive substance to get off of addictive substances.....not sure that your going to get out of this scott free.  I do think there will be some w/d associated with quitting the neurontin, but to what I extent, I'm not sure.

Doesn't seem like I'm able to give you any specifics and I am sorry about that but in order to come out on the other side, you have to go through it. So if there are w/d's....try to not fight them. Try to clean your system of everything!!!!  And as soon as you possibly can....get your *** into a 12 step program!

the Dr prescribed 900mg per day ..by the way ty very much for responding ...not looking for an easy way out of this as there is none ...but the specific question is that the duration of my increased Neurontin use was EXACTLY one week from start to finish ...I have read that the length of time you are on it can dictate the severity of wd symptoms ...**** if I read this earlier I wouldn't have bolused it for a week ...I can taper I am just wondering if any one knows if only a week of increased dosage is profound enough for a long wd period

ok I just did my math and counted what is left ...I was averaging 4000 mgs per day times 7 or 8 days ...I have 38 100 mg capsules left ....I will try going down to a few hundred per day ...is that a good idea?
