Norco Tapering !Please tell me it works!

I have been on Norco for about 10 months now up to 10 of the 10/325 per day. I was prescribed 6 per day and whoops I have to now take 3 per day for 6 days until a refil. This sucks I am taking for awful back pain, Not to get high. My doctor wants nothing to do with me now, I have asked for early refil or increase in dosage and he referred me to pain clinic which will get back to me in 2 months.

Someone please let me know if tapering down worked for you. I feel I am at a turning point. If I go to pain clinic and up the dose then I think I will be in for an extremely serious withdrawl sometime down the road.

My pain is not constant everyday and I think I could take 1 to 3 times per week if I could get off the daily dependent thing. My stupid doctor told me I needed to take it every day for it to be effective. Right now I think he is a moron because these don't work anymore and that is the opposite of what is actually true.

Right now I feel bone aches, and at night kick constantly and toss and turn. Any good weaning stories or advice is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. You have made a great decision coming here b/c there is so much support and info. I am currently tapering from a  hydrocodone addiction (same as norco) I could take at least 20+ 7.5's per day. I am at 8 per day now. I am ready to be done with this nightmare and worrying about pills all the time and letting them control me. I am ready to take my life back....the taper is working out great for me. It is hard to have wd symptoms and a toddler. Everyone is different though. Good luck to you and keep posting you will get so much support here!

Hello!!
It does work.  If you can have somebody dole them out to you (I didn't trust myself) and you have a good taper schedule, you can do it.  I did it back in February and I was also on Norco's, I was up to about 16 a day on my worst day.  It is not pleasant and in the middle of it I finally said screw it and stopped altogether.  I believe that since I tapered up until that point, it wasn't as bad if I would have just jumped off at 16 a day down to 0.
I agree about what you said about your doctor - taking them everyday just gets you so used to them, that you need more and more to be effective!
Good luck to you, let us know how it goes!

Thanks, for the reply the support is needed right now big time. I hate these things but they are the only thing that allows me to be a soccer coach for my son or play football with him etc.

Being dependent on them is awful. I just got done crying for next to no reason, and feel like I am out of breath. with bone pain. I am now on 3 per day straight jump from 5 per day which was OK for me the drastic jump was b/c is misestimated my next refil. SUX big time. I can't imagine going cold turkey.

Hi,

I tapered and I thought it was much easier than what I heard from people who went cold turkey. it is more drawn out but nowhere near as severe depending on how fast your taper is. If you need help with a taper plan, ask avisg(she has a purple flower by her name, can't miss it) and she'll help you. If you can't get her for some reson, pm me and I can make one for you.

Good luck!
Melissa
