Sudie, your doctor may have meant by comparison with short acting benzos such as xanax.  Pharmacology text books report that valium has the longer half life.  The Half life of valium also increases for individuals by one hour for every year over 20 years of age & there are other factors such as liver function that will effect elimination.

sorry mad, but i was told by my own dr. as a benzo addict myself, clonazepam is one of the longer half life benzoa, it was one of my addictions, i was put on vallium to come off them.

Actually, valium has a longer half life, (36-200 hours) & is generally used to taper off from benzos with shorter half lives, including clonazepam, (18-50 hrs).   Clonazepam has a medium half life when compared with short acting benzos such as Xanax, (6-12 hours).
