Hi there!! Detoxing is only the first step in the road to recovery. Aftercare can provide you with other important things such as, relapse prevention skills, addressing your triggers, and how to cope with stress and anxiety, which may cause you to use. The sooner you know these skills, the better equip you are to deal with them when the time comes. Trust me, the time will come. Why?? Because we're addicts, I've been clean 5 years and still struggle from time to time, but because of aftercare, I know how to handle it when it happens. Please consider it. Good Luck~Sherry
Sorry branegame, I meant to post this response on your other question about aftercare, whoops!!~Sherry
Hun you had a little setback because of your kidney stones. You were given pain meds so that didn't help with your detox and healing.
You have to make yourself move. Eat right. After years of using it takes time to heal. You have to be patient with the process.
Keep moving forward. Keep the faith.
Congrats on your clean time.
Debbie
you have to remember it is a mind game from this point on! Everyone is different and depends on how much used and how long used. Don't give up it will get better I promise! I remember my first time after almost 11 years using it felt like I was never going to get threw this, but once I started making myself get up, moving and thinking I got this it really helped. You are not alone in this so post and vent when you need to!
Hi well recovery is different for everyone you just have to take it one day at a time there is no set day that you will feel better if your habit wasent to bad and not on it long a month is a good goal to look forward to if your like me I was on a high dose of methadone for almost 7yrs so it took a good 90 days to even start to recover you will probably land somewhere in between just stick it our this is a ''we thing not a ''i '' thing you need support I recamend getting to N/A you dont have to do this alone you will find support and people that understand just what your going threw google N/A meetings in your area
I did google my local meeting and hope to get up the courage to go this week.
Oh I forgot to say today is day 16!
You're doing GREAT. Recovery is NOT linear...it has peaks and valleys, ups and downs, but you are on the RIGHT ROAD.
Remember, your brain needs to heal. I'm at 6 months and still I don't feel right. I have some very bad days...but I am not chained to opiates. Thank God.
Keep going...and good luck with the meetings...
